Ill find the link to prove this, but that guy was talking a big load of bull sh!t :D. He made up all that stuff about the files ect ect... just to scare the **** outta the kid, rather clever actually :v: .

yeah i heard the guy never turned the thing in. some of the stuff the lecturer said is implausible at best, like having a transponder or microsoft immediately contacting them when they noticed the second cd key or how he'll somehow know if the data hasn't been copied. if he was going to try to scare the guy into giving it back he shouldn't have made such silly stuff up

i dont know how to do it myself, but ive seeb it been done where you can find out if any files have been copied or edited, its all stored in a log file with timestamping, havent got a clue what the files are called but you cant access them through windows normally, you need some application to access them.

As others have posted about this on other threads
How come they didn't just triangulate ?
How come the data wasn't safely encrypted if so valuable ?

    Anyone know the outcome ?

If the thief dropped back just the HHD and the mini PCI WiFI card - LOL :v:

Anyway since they passed the law over yonder that means you can get two years in prison for anonymous emails or internet postings that someone considers annoying, the other threats aren't so scary. And besides yer man now has one strike against him - two more and it's life.

We all know he was talking bollocks but that kind of thing may have sounded very plausible to someone doing economics or some other non technical subject.
