The best all-round Virus scanner?

I've used a lot of different virus scanners these days and they pretty much all have their good points and extremely annoying points. Like Nortan will catch pretty much anything but at the sametime it hogs a lot of resources etc etc. Similar story with AVG. My favourite so far has been Ewido because its minimalistic, will only scan when you want to but it doesn't catch everything.
Can anyone recommend a good all-rounder?

I use antivir and find it quite efficient.

Kaspersky does the job very well for me, highly regarded and I find it to be pretty unobtrusive. I'd definately go against using Norton it's extremely bloated and... well, crap!

yeah, I'd agree with that, norton does suck. I'll give those a go, see how they fair out.

yes don't use Norton. Sophos is good, but only if you're in UCD and can get it for free (or else off your employer maybe). otherwise there's a thing called ClamAV that's free but i'm not sure about on-access scanning.
