    Hi guys

thought this would be a good place to ask this question.

Anybody know the original intro music for the Late Late Show.

Knowing RTE I doubt it was originally written, but I could be wrong.
I'd love to get a hold of of a full lenght better quality version for a
project I'm doing. I've attached a small wav so you have something to go on.

any ideas on the artist or who recorded etc would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    Maj

I'll say one thing though - it was much better than the shíte they play now! Come to think of it everything was better on the late late then. Pat Kenny, wat a complete bore

It's called 'To Whom it concerns' and was an instrumental version of a hit originally by Chris Andrews. I don't think it should be too hard to find.

It's from a song by one Chris Andrews called (fittingly) "To Whom It Concerns". There was also a dance remix by Strictly Fish with some choice Late Late soundbites thrown in, but obviously that came much later.

Yes, and it was not used from the very start as if often percieved. It only came on stream in the late 70s as far as I remember.

Very effective piece, especially when 'tweaked' for the last time for the 1995 presentation change. The combination of those deep introductory booms and the sophisticated red, gold and black graphics was fantastic.

The current Late Late theme is another decent piece, however it has been tweaked no less than four times in the past seven years, with three graphics packages to boot. Talk about insecurity.
The current remix is not good - earlier ones were much better. And the graphics are woeful.

BTW I've found out the version used on the late late was done by 'The Ken Woodman Sound' classic 60's stuff on his album 'town talk' on itunes no less, sweeeet!

While we're on the subject, what's the end music from the Gay Byrne era? Was that original or not?

    Wikipedia

"The effect of all these mannerisms was said to add to the sense of realism in the show, that, as the theme music at the end of the show stated, 'it started on The Late Late Show.' (This was a clip of a Nat King Cole song 'The Late Late Show', which appeared on his 1959 album 'Big Band Cole')."
