The Dell Inspiron 1300 is 599 including delivery - not going to get much better than that.

Check out the shop Back from the future on Camden street. They usually have decent cheapish laptops. www.backfromthefuture.ie

If you do any programming or multimedia work, make sure you get one with plenty of memory. Might be better to spend a bit more and it might last you a couple of years longer.
    :)

Also looking my self as I am sure like a lot of people need one for word pro/internet but have not got a room which I can let go for a desktop. As some people suggested here had a look at the ones in PcWorld. The patriot for €499 has a Via Celeron chip which states it only runs at 133mhz buspeed, can this be right. The advent similar spec with an intel celeron chip running at 400mhz BS for €649.

i'll be selling this powerhouse in about 2weeks..

i'll admit it's got a hell of a lot of scratches and doesn't look the best, but everything is working fine and it's running as well as ever..
will be selling for around 500/600e, freshly formatted with winxp and microsoft office 2004 if anyone's interested..
