Working in an internet cafe at the moment, sweet job for college as im finishing a software degree....

However to-day, i get in and find that the manager has deleted every thing off the computer behind the desk and provided staff with a limited account...

    Boll@x to that!

Can any one help me get rid of the password to the admin account/get the password/ install restricted software any way?

Any help would be apriciated. :)

    That's self authenticating knowledge.

You claim to be doing a software degree and don't understand that trust is important in the jobs world and software world. Also you have physical access to a windows machine and you are asking for help.

    Two black marks for you

    IMHO a/ you aren't competent.
    IMHO b/ you aren't honest.

methinks you are just a script kiddie

Coming on to this board and asking to deceive your employer isn't clever.

In the long run i tend to think better of stupid ideas.... Similar to here.
    (I get the point)

Mind you, looking for the answer seems to have helped a couple of other people who had ligitamit reasons for changeing their password...

There are several bootable cds that will do the job, System Restore CD being my favourite... however in this case I'd suggest you don't use it if you wish to keep your job.

most of these CD's don't actually crack the admin password, they simply reset it.

you can use ERD commander to reset the admin password..however manager wil immediately know once he goes to log in the next time..

Hmm..i reckon you could make a SAM dump and then reset the password, make another admin account for yourself and then restore the dump..

    maybe ...

say the manager felt you up, sue for sexual harrasment, get him fired then take his job, thus gaining the password... easy

    LOL... so wrong it's funny...

To the OP: it's not worth the risk. Just survive somehow with regular web surfing, and maybe a book, and some nice coffee... You'll be OK!!! :)

And if all else fails, you can just come to boards.ie to relieve your boredom. I mean, what else do you need

A handy tool for recovering your password when you lose/forget it is:

    http://www.loginrecovery.com/

I am not sure about this but I think you can log in as an administator of the computer when you get to the login screen, where you choose your name (if your computer goes straight to the desktop, you will have to log off to the login window), but don't press a name, instead hit CTRL+ALT+Delete, and a text-box will come up where you can enter a name, enter "Administrator", and you should get in

But my advice, it is defintly not worth the risk, if you get caught you will get sacked, and trust me you will more than likely get caught

And I couldn't see any posting rules but if this is breaking them, mods please feel free to delete this

But I strongly recommend that you don't try to get admin privelges, because it could mean your job..

That's only if the administrator account has no password set...

    Nice try though :)

I'd do what Capt'n Midnight suggested...

OP: If what you say is true (the other employees have been sticking all kinds of **** on the computer) than I can't blame the owner/manager for restricting the computers access! Taking the piss always ends up with someone getting hurt...

Oh yeah, I forgot about that . Aw well.

It would be best to do Capt'n Midnight's way
