He came out today as well that he deserves the sack if he doesn't get to the Semi's of the World Cup. Sven hate to say you would have been sacked months ago only the FA can't afford to sack you. They want you to resign. Has nobody told him this yet?

Although that is pretty stupid of him I hope he wins a nice big settlement that will stop the news of the world doing this in future . They went out with the blatent intent of setting him up to look bad .

Sven's not going to resign, he has the FA by the balls and won't be going without a fat back pocket to show for it.

He should'nt resign anyway. As for legal actions he should wait until he leaves in the summer.

    Mike.

    BBC:
Coach Sven sues News of the World

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson is to sue the News of the World for breach of confidence.

He was filmed by an undercover reporter who posed as a rich sheik saying he would quit after the World Cup and he made derogatory comments about players.

The Swede's agent Athole Still and his lawyer Richard Des Voeux joined Eriksson in the legal move.

His lawyers say the stories were "a gross invasion of privacy" and have asked to see tapes of the interview.

The trio had visited Dubai at the invitation of "an apparently legitimate company to discuss the possibility of a future sports development consultancy".

"It is now clear that this was all a highly sophisticated deception by the newspaper," his lawyers said on Friday.

Last Sunday the paper published articles about the trip.

"The resulting articles were a gross invasion of privacy, and the discussions, which our clients were expressly asked to keep confidential, were reported out of context in a distorted and sensationalised manner so as to provide a spurious pretext for the headlines which appeared."

It continued: "Our clients' position is that stories of this sort, and the distortion of what was said during confidential discussions in order to create the bogus appearance of some legitimate public interest, must be remedied."

    Yeah nice one Sven!!!

Did the News Of The World physically force those comments out of his mouth? No. He took it upon himself to spout out crap about his players or whatnot and he should suffer the consequences of his actions. Unless the News Of The World have printed lies not, he's got nothing on them as far as I'm concerned.

I'm no fan of the News Of The World but this situation is 100% Svens fault. It's not the first time Sven has been caught up in scandal and it would only be good for England that get rid of a highly untrustworthy manager like him.

sacking a manager a few months before a world cup would be crazy, especially as i feel england have a decent chance, and lets be honest he did speak a lot of truth,
    rio is lazy
rooney does come from a poor background
    owen went for the money
beckham is easily lead,ie posh dressing him like a girl

Would you appreciate you boss talking openly about all your faults(and possibly things you told him in a one on one conversation) to anyone who will listen.

(not directed at county) Plus if no one is bothered about him talking about taking the villa job. When your job hunting do you tell your boss?

    And on it goes:

    New allegations in Eriksson saga

England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson told the News of the World newspaper that three unnamed English Premiership clubs are riddled with corruption.

The alleged corruption relates to illegal payments in transfer deals.

The Swede and his agent Athole Still are said to have named the clubs in a meeting with an undercover reporter.

Eriksson has already announced his intention to sue the paper following last week's story that he will quit the England job after the World Cup.

The News of the World does not name the Premiership clubs in question for legal reasons, but does provide a series of clues as to who they are.

These allegations of corruption come hot on heels of similar claims made by Mike Newell.

    Newell optimistic following talks
The Luton manager held talks with the Football Association on Wednesday to discuss what he has described as a "bung culture" in the game.

The FA was prodded into action by Newell's comments that he had been offered bungs, or illegal payments, by agents in the past.

In relation to Eriksson's remarks, the FA has said it will wait until it has read the story on Sunday before deciding on whether to make any official comment.

    'Fake Sheikh'

Eriksson, who is under contract as England coach until 2008, was on an FA-sanctioned trip to Dubai when he is said to have been contacted by rich Arab who said he wanted to discuss a coaching job at a new football academy in Dubai.

He is said to have told this man, a celebrated undercover reporter, that Aston Villa was for sale, that England captain David Beckham would return to play in England if Eriksson asked him to, and that striker Michael Owen was not happy at Newcastle.

Eriksson, who has never managed an English club side, is also reported to have said he would like to be paid as much as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, the top earner in the Premiership

The reporter in question, Mazher Mahmood, has a track record of trapping public figures in embarrassing stings.

Among other big names caught out by the "Fake Sheikh" are England rugby star Lawrence Dallaglio and the Countess of Wessex.

I'd have a good guess at who the three clubs are but of course I can't mention it on boards;)

He should shut up, realise that he fcuked up and he was caught. It might have been a set up, but he offered to illegally tap up players, said would drop teh England job after the World Cup and manage the newly accuired Premiership FC that the Sheik was goin to buy (Aston Villa?)

and then stated the obivous, Beckham is unhappy in Spain and wants to return to the Uk, Owen is unhappy at Newcastle and is still pining after Liverpool, Ferdinand is a lazy footballer(with teh attention span of a three yr old*)> we all know this.
*my not have actually said this :D

Even if his legal ppl tell him he has a case, it just shows that hes also arrogant, adding to being greedy and showing no loyalty to his employers. The FA pulled the stops out to match what Chelsea were offering, a record breaking fee to a England Manager, and now he says hes off at the first sign of another big money deal.

If Sven had 1/2 a brain he would keep stum and let teh whole thing blow over.

Read on another message board that these were the clues he gave as to who the 3 corrupted clubs were...

One of the club pays the most for players

The other is one of the most famous and pays over the odds and a relative is an agent

The other is a club is near the bottom

I think it's fairly obvious who the first two are supposed to be.

    That's what I guessed:)
