Outlook 2003

I have MS Office 2003 installed with all available updates. Outlook used to use Word as the default EMail editor. Now for some reason when I try to replay to a message I get an error saying

"MS Word is set to be your default email editor but MS Word is either not installed, not available or is not the same version as Outlook. The outlook email editor will be used instead. An OLE regestration error has occoured. The program is not correctly installed. Please run setup again for the program"

I reinstalled both word and outlook but still get the same error. The only thing I have not tried is an uninstall of Office and re install it. Befor trying this, if I create a .PST file, will it contain all my outlook user accounts, even those in different XP User accounts, on the computer as well as my address book and emails that I want to keep. I use 3 different email accounts, and my wife who has her own XP account on this machine also has her email account set up. Or if anyone has any other solution around this I would appreciate hearing back.
    Regards,
