I don't install Amstrad boxes at all, it's all Pace now (I still miss the Pannies). I didn't even realise the Amstrads were distributed in Ireland!

Is this new one the one that will be standardised shape across all makes? The one with blue LEDs at the front?

Sorry Tony i meant all makes that have this new shape,
its like when the Grundig gds 3000 came out all of a sudden the Gds 200/300 were not being supplied to us. Tony have you seen or used this new shape stb?

The new box with images was mentioned in here about a month or less ago. So, I've seen images of it and to be honest, I think it looks tacky. Though I'll reserve further judgement until I see the product in the flesh.

No prob, if I understand what your saying is they will all look alike on the outside. I've not seen this new shape, usually i'd only get to see it when it arrives in Armstrongs or theres a trade show. Just hope reliability is good, I'm sure you feel the same :)

Not a good start from Amstrad then

I assume despite all boxes LOOKING the same, they won't be all manufactured by one company?

Thanks for that bigpaddy2004 had call back failures on 4 boxes at the same house luckly i had a Pace box in the van just in case,
I'll just have to use these Amstrads on non land line installs

Anyone know where I could find the full spec for the DRX-550 or even a review. Thinking of bidding for one on e-bay but unsure of its quality.
Are they fast at channel changing like the Pace DS430N?

The 'amstrad' name dosen't inspire me with confidence especially after watching the apprentice last night on TV3.

I have yet to see one, though I hope I never do. I'd avoid it and go for the DS430, or maybe wait for the new Pace box, which will look identical to the current Amstrad one. Thomson I think will be making an identical box also, Amstrad were just the first to release theirs.

    Thanks Byte....
I think I will take your advice and and wait for the pace model to come out.
