Harddrive Help!!!!

    Hi i just bought a new Hd and when i went to partition it with my winxp disc it says (Setup Cannot Access Disk) I dont know what could be wrong... im running on a 4gig IDE hd here :mad: its a 250gig S-ATA WD2500... Any ideas? cause im all out? and when i press enter at the partition screen i get the BSOD... Thanks all help appriciated

    Does the drive Spin-up?

    Does it get recognised by BIOS?

    Jumpers set correctly?

    Yes,yes and yes! lol im just confused

    Edit: Just installed partition magic to see if i could partition it using that and i get the error

    Init failed: Error 100
    Partition Table is Bad

    Theres a suggested solution to your Partition Table is bad problem.

    try a chkdsk /f

    No luck, and i downloaded this program from Western Digitals Site which partitions the drive (well says it has) but it doesnt really...

    Nope, none.... Im really starting to get pissed off as i just got a Razer Dimondback and cant play games until i get this hd up and running :(

    I'd return the drive to be honest, it seems there is little you can do to fix it

    to format the MBR should be readable IIRC. a partition table error implies the MBR isnt readable.

    It still has a warrenty but the site says "out of region" lol he has good feedback and is a sound bloke im sure when he gets my msg he will replace or refund, hes from dub...
