Idiots! I agree that they should have gone with thier initial guess of 'Africa'.

I think whats more shocking is the fact that audience was dead silent in anticipation (rather than in hysterics laughing) as tho the family 'might' be right.

Actually now that I think about it answering 'Europe' might not have been such a bad move.

I say this because isn't this that "We asked 100 people on the street show...." so if enough individuals on yer average American street were equally as uninformed on world geography as the Wiley's (and let's face it there probably are!) then "Europe" could have been a popular response.

That is of course presuming they actually DO survey 100 people rather than just making up the answers in an office somewhere.

Good point. However, the competition would have to follow set rules I presume...ie the answers have to be acceptable answers rather than false information. The people who run the programme may have gotten "Europe" as one of the most popular answers, but they would not have been able to use it because its non-applicable.
