Right folks have a small problem thats really wrecking my head.
I recently re-installed win xp on my home pc (cos it was working really slow) and since then i have re-loaded my programs on it too, and that was all fine.

    Now my problem is:
When I put music into my pc throught the line in jack, it plays out the computer speakers but wont record into cool edit (pro2) which it did before the re-install. Now Im pretty computer literate so I checked all the levels on the windows recording mixer etc. The sound card im using is the one that came with the dell pc im using (SoundMax intergraded digital audio)

Can anyone help or advise ?

    Alan!

Open the Device Manager (right-click on My Computer, Manage, Device Manager) and open the "Sound, video and game controllers" branch. Are any of the icons marked with either a red or yellow icon?

Actually Ive lost my USB2.0 Port and it says all thats active now is a standard universal pci to usb host controller
the intel enhanced usb2.0 host controller -24cd has a red x over it ? and my ipod was only transfering songs at half the speed!

You should have gotten a disk of drivers when you got the PC, or with any individual components you have bought since. You'll have to dig these out and install them.

If you can't find the computers CD, go to the manufacturers site. They should have a full listing of drivers for your model.
