Corrupt JPEG file - best recovery software?

    Hi guys and gals,

Bro was away for a few days, borrowed my camera. Seems he was either reviewing the photos quickly and changed mode, or else was reeling off snaps and went to review too quickly, either way, he's left with a number of unviewable files on SD card.

The files are all present, and the correct size (c. 1MB), except they cannot be open. I've looked around the web for software, and I've found a few that seem to do the trick. I've no problem paying for it, I just want to ensure I dont end up paying for the wrong one. Have you any experience with these, and if so, what's the best one?

Image Recovery by Lexar and www.photosrecovery.com are two bigger ones I've found.

    Any help is appreciated.

    bru

Sandisk have a link to one on their website; I think its Rescue Pro. They state in the literature sold with their pro memory cards that it's their solution for corrupt image retrieval so it must be some good...

I've used Photorescue from here http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/ with success in the past. One big plus is that you can download a demo version that will scan the card and let you see what would be recovered first before you buy, although it won't actually do the recovery.

BTW If you're thinking of using something like that, take the card out of the camera and don't use it for taking photos until you do, otherwise you may destroy any chance you have of rescuing the photos.

Just to let you know I got Rescue Pro from Sandisk, and it did the job no problem - very impressed with the results, and also it recovered photos from months ago that I had deleted!

    cheers
