Has Anyone Ported From Eircom To Blueface?

Does anyone know how long it takes to port from Eircom to Blueface? I have both at the minute but BF is working well and I'm thinking of porting across permanently.:)

Yip, I ported from eircom November / December last year. It took a shade under 4 weeks and I made sure there was no additional services on the line, and the details on the porting form were exactly (including typo with my name) as the eircom bill!

When I went to ring eircom to cancel the line for good after the port was done, I was looking forward to a little gloat. But oh no, what I got was an incredibly chirpy "oh sure that's already cancelled for ya... anything else?".

Since then, there's been absolutely no problems or issues and I'm glad to have made the switch.

    Adrian.

Thanks for that.:) I'll go ahead with it then.

I'm in the process of doing this, and its takenover 4 weeks so far. I am told that it may take up to 8 weeks in total due to issues on Eircom side.

I rang up Eircom to get them to move my line back from UTV Talk. Hadn't the heart to reply that I'm going to VOIP when I was asked what made me come back.

I don't actually kow if I've been cancelled at the utv end though.

Isnt it madness to have to port back to eircon before moving on to blueface!!

can't undestand why you would want to port a number when 076 are free ?

So is a traditional number with Blueface. Alot of people had my traditional number. only two people use my 076 as it costs the same anyway.

Credit cards etc. require a landline number. I doubt they would allow 076.

really?? thats a bit ****e. can ye not just go from BT\UTV straight to blueface??
Will ditch my number and get a new one when i go down the voip route.

You just reduce the risk of running into long drawn out squabbles if you move back to Eircom and then port from Eircom. The porting process involves Eircom at some stage so if you introduce a non-Eircom company into it, I'm sure it has the potential to get messy. Easiest thing is to move back to Eircom and port from there. At least then they only have themselves to fight with.

You can not port to another provider from anyone but Eircon.

This happening was never conceived by Comreg!!!

There is only legislation in place to move from Eircon to another provider. Eircon will NOT port your number if you are with a CPS carrier.

If you are with BT/UTV, you will not be delayed, you will be unable to move until you go back to Eircon.

All complaints about this well thought out process should be sent to Comreg.

Bugger, so my porting application from eircon to BF will fail because my current calls are charged through Tele2 ?

If your linerental is with Tele2 then it will. Move back to Eircon, get an Eircon acocunt and port. You can setup Blueface and not even use the Eircon line while it is installed.

I considered porting the number back to eircon from smart and then to Blueface. I decided against it as I was moving house in the near future and would have a Lucan area code on da nortsoide. Just keeping a Blueface number is much handier if you are moving in the near future.:v:

I'm in the middle of porting and moving from UTV-Eircom-Blueface. I was informed by Blueface that everyone that is with a CPS carrier has a UAN (Universal Account Number). This is the one you quote when porting.:)

Perhaps this is new. I could not port with this and the Ac I got when I went back to Eircon was different to my UAN.

My line rental is with eircon, but my calls are with Tele2...will my porting application still fail?

    Just seen Freddie59's comment above.

Freddie, I'll shortly be doing same (I think, depends on feedback I'm reading on Blueface). Who did you contact first? Do you have to cancel UTV first, wait for that to be cancelled, and then cancel Eircom before a port can happen?

    This is what I'm doing

    1) Set in motion to port back to eircom basic talk now package. Gave my 076 number for the free 120mins off peak. With this package I will only pay for peak calls.

    2) Enabled eircom call forwarding from my landline to my 076 number as I really only have 1 phone available though many handsets.

    3) Now have said phone on blueface with all incoming (076/landline) to this phone and I make all outgoing over voip.

    4) Await confirmation of port to eircom and then set in motion the move to blueface.

    5) When giving out number to new people, will start giving 076, so less dependent on landline just if we ever move!!

Paulo - what I did was this:

Ring Eircom and tell them you want to port back from UTV. They will offer you the option to either have a form sent out or will record your application on the phone. Tell them that, under no circumstances do you want to sign up to any package. They will port you back in 10 days.

Then download the porting form from the Blueface site and post it off. I'm told it takes 6 - 8 weeks (still waiting).

My port went fairly okay, and I was with Euphony for my calls at the time. What I did was rang Euphny to cancel, and sent in form to Blueface to port at the smae time. Euphony cancleled, I was back on Eircom and then ported to BLUEFACE. Suppose the reason it went okay was cos of Eircoms petty 8 week port timescale.

Well you could use the local number that bluface issued you with and just disconnect Eircom. I think Eircom may have to refund you the line rental, bbut I'm not too sure.:)

I had my line with Eircom and CPS with UTV and all I did was fill in the port forms and 4 weeks later the line had been moved to Blueface. I didn't have any dealing with Eircom or UTV whatsoever during the entire process. My next eircom bill came in stating that the account had been terminated and that was it, I was fully up and running on Blueface.

You'll probably be waiting another 2 weeks.

I was with Eircom for line rental and Euphony for calls. I cancelled Euphony on 13th December...so my months "free for €9.99" calls ran out on Jan 13th. I sent the port form to Blueface before christmas, and they told me the it was sent out from Blueface on the 21st December.

The port finally went through on 16th Feb, got an email confirming from Blueface and all incoming calls now come via VOIP! 8 weeks to the limit, thanks Eircom.

I could no longer make calls on my Eircom line ... constant busy tone, so I presumed that was cancelled automaticlly. To check I rang to cancel and the person on the other end seemed to think the account was still active!!? My advice would be to be on the safe side call Eircom and cancel.

Next question:- Has anyone refused to pay line rental for the 8weeks Eircom take to process the port? :-)

Hmmm. Thanks for that. Sounds suspiciously like Eircom are charging two months rental to jump ship. Where the bloody hell are ComReg?

Amazingly I was able to port back from UTV to Eircom in 10 days. 8 weeks to go the other way? Only in Ireland!!!

I had the process of porting started until I got my new geographical number from blueface which was much nicer and easier for people to remember, so I kept the blueface number :)
