Which way do I put the tinfoil (Cooking)

OK I know this is not suited for AH, but I need a quick answer!
I'm cooking a lasagne, and need to transport it about 3 minutes down the road, so ill be covering it with tinfoil.

My question is, which way should I put the tinfoil? Should the shiny side be facing up, or down onto the food in the tray?

I don't know the first thing about cookery but my wife, who has a passion for it, always has the 'shiny' side up.

Apparently it doesnt matter, unless it's actually non-stick foil (rare?).

Actually, it makes no difference which side of the aluminum foil you use—both sides do the same fine job of cooking, freezing and storing food. The difference in appearance between dull and shiny is due to the foil manufacturing process. In the final rolling step, two layers of foil are passed through the rolling mill at the same time. The side coming in contact with the mill's highly polished steel rollers becomes shiny. The other side, not coming in contact with the heavy rollers, comes out with a dull or matte finish.

because you are transporting hot food and wish to keep in heat, it seems it's best to keep shiny side DOWN (towards food) to reflect back as much heat.

It seems everyone has their own interpretation to this one!

Thats what I would have gone with, think ill chance the shiny side down!

Some argue that the non-shiny side gives better diffuse reflection. Certain bold boys who grow special herbs in their bedrooms would tell you this!

I would have thought this... Shiny Reflets heat. If transporting Hot stuff, have the Shiny side facing the food, to reflect heat back into it. If Transporting Cold food, have the shiny side facing the sun... to reflect heat away from the Food.
