    Hi,

Wondering if anyone has come across this prolem before.

My machine is a few years old -
    XP AMD Athalon 1700+
512MB of Crucial memory on one DIMM
    Shuttle Spacewalker Motherboard.

Last night when i tried to start it up I got a blue screen error with a load of stuff about if i see the error again i should update the BIOS etc. I tried to restart - same outcome. I tried to start it up in Safe mode and that worked fine. Then i tried the Safe Mode with Networking option and it gave me the same error message.

I downloaded the latest BIOS and installed that - but no joy.

Any help would really be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    K

Is the network card integrated into the motherboard, or is it removable? If so, can you remove it and try booting? If not, boot into Safe Mode, open the Device Manager and disable the adapter.

Given that it occurs when you go to Safe Mode with Networking, my first guess would be that the problem is caused when trying to start the network adapter.

    I get:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer"

it goes on a bit to a final line:

    *** stop: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xf6bb64d0, 0xf894cfec, 0xf894ccec)

I tried to restore the system and that didn't work. I have plenty of space on my hard drive.

Thanks for the help - but i am going to need you to fill out those TPS reports!
