Mapping special characters to key combo

    stupid question
    but how do u map special characters like ë to a button combination, like ctrl+alt+e. I have looked around and cant find out how to do this

    any suggestions, thanks

    In MS Word XP:

    Insert > Symbol (Then select teh symbol you want to make a shortcut for) > Shortcut key (Then assign a key combination, bear in mind that some may already be in use and that you can use the Alt key in combination with numbers on the keypad)

    The symbol you mentioned (ë) already has a shortcut key (Alt + 0235), not too hard to remember if you are not using a whole load of symbols... for scientists out there (µ) is Alt + 0181 :)
