    OK.. here's the story!

Have my XBox upstairs with a wireless router downstairs - is there any way to connect to the Internet / XBox Live etc using wireless?

Either a piece of hardware or any way to divert the Wireless connection from my laptop to my nearby XBox using Ethernet.

Any help would be much appreciated.

there is a way of doing this. You need to connect your laptop to the xbox. then bridge the connection you have that goes to your wireless router, then share it.

I managed it once. google it up.

    i do this,
xbox - cross over cable - pc/laptop [with wireless] u either share or bridge the wireless connection,
-also go to router stetting downstairs and get dns and enter that when your xbox asks for it, [so enter dns manually] -not auto

Excellent stuff.. bless ye all especially yourself for that excellent guide, Placebo!

Got her all hooked up and not having problems FTP-ing into the XBox and losing the Internet connection which i couldn't resolve in the past.

Oh and XBMC + Internet Connection = SWEEEEEET!

Nothing better than querying IMDB for some information on a film before i watch it... fantastic!

    Again.. many thanks! ;)

Is it hard to set up? Just had a quick glance. seems ok.

Does it affect your wirless or internet? I.e can I surf while some one plays the xbox? Will it effect the wireless router downstairs?

Played around with it last night for a bit.. seemed to affect my internet connection minimally except when i was streaming music videos / trailers from Launch / Apple.com. Could still surf as normal when XBox was connected.

Wireless Router didn't seem to be affected either!

My tip: do it, what have you got to lose!?

Just thought i'd mention, theres alot of products available that add wireless to ethernet devices, such as games consoles like the xbox etc... the item above can be bought cheap, and theres plenty of similar devices that do the same job, so for any of you "does anyone know were i can buy the official xbox 360 wireless adaptor?" dont, because its over €80, sure its small, and connects nicely through usb, but with devices like the one ive linked, you can just use the ethenet port, and save a few quid ;)

Can surf while the XBox is on and connected here with no problems. What router have you got Placebo? I'm on the Netopia one supplied with Eircom BB.

No serious lag but i'm having problems setting up XLink Kai and don't have an XBox Live Subscription so when i get that set up, i'll let you know if there's any serious lag.. but other than that, everything works great!

Installed a couple of excellent XBMC Scripts to watch stuff on IFilm.com, Launch, Apple.com. And also check my Eircom / Gmail accounts and what's on TV straight from the XBOX also.

Trying to play Halo 2 but can't get it going! :(

Can see the games / arenas currently in operation on the XBox but as soon as i click on one of them.. i get an error prompt:

"XBMC is unable to confirm your network is reachable. You may experience difficulties joining or hosting.."

Got no software firewall such as ZoneAlarm or anything and then when Halo 2 launches, there are no games available in the System Link area.
