Anyone that works in IT field service care to share their salary? I have five years plus experiance and have a few compaq and hp certs and an MCP but wondering what salary i should be looking for as want to go work for a company after a few years of working for self. In 2001 I was on about €21,000 working for a dublin company when I was 19 and am 24 now wondering what i should be looking for when going for a similar job.

Have you been working in the same field?

If so, I'd say you should be looking at 35-40k

    Hope this helps.

Yeah ive been self employed for last three years doing much the same with a bit of sales ontop and giving it up now cos i want a bit of financial security and to enjoy life a bit more. Being your own boss is great but stress was killing me!

    35/40 sounds good tho.

Depends on where in the country you get the job, Ive worked in IT for over six years but because i'm working in limerick I'm just barely on 30!!!!

Yeah sounds more like it for the country. Im gonna appy to a few and see what happens. Might try push the country one to 40 and see if they'll budge. Whats the best way to work out your takehome every week/month after tax? Its years since ive applied for a job.

What exactly is your job? If you were working in Dublin i'd say 45-50k for a contractor/engineer with 5 years experience, if you're is Laois probably 35-45k.
