Defining TMA and MMA

I would like to propose a new way of defining TMA and MMA.

I would like to propose the following defenitions:
TMA: any style wher excelence is achieved through any abstract notion.

MMA: any style where excelence is achieved through easily demonstrated ability transcending the norm.

So basketball if it was a martial art would be a MMA, those teams that easily beat the others would be excelent.

Well I cant actually think up an example from out side of TMA for TMA. I cant even say Figure skating or dancing because the greats in those diciplines are truely great athletes etc. Same goes for philosophy.

Okay I can think of one, can anyone guess?

Comments, criticism and yes, even insults, are welcome.

    Peace

okay here's an insult Your spelling is crap !:D

what about a Karate Team (considered TMA here) beats another Karate team, and most other Karate teams, this team by your definition would be excellent , in the same manner that in regards to Basketball "those teams that easily beat the others would be excelent"

That same Karate team would probably , use pads, introduce timing , motion, and resistance to their training as well, in that they would train in an alive manner.

MMA for me is what it is. Mixed martial arts. Where performance is worth more than belts, sashes and unrealistic long winded patterns.

    TMA is the opposite.

That's how I see it. I have no doubt some TMA schools might have an MMA approach to their training, but in general, more not than so.

    How about...

MMA training method: Uses almost a 100% sporting methadology for training. Sport training methods involve an emphasis in sporting performance above all else and as such will change with this need for this performance

TMA training method: May use some sport training methods but largely uses methods not associated with sporting methods. These traditional methods place importance on tradition, spirituality, culture, hierarchy and other factors.

Neither as a negative btw I think thats a relatively fair definition
