Problems receiving Irish channels

Had Sky installed last Friday. Installer said that setup was standard but that update would come through anytime from 2mins to 4 hours, to include Irish channels in EPG. Have called Sky 3 times since then and did manual search as suggested on 3rd occasion, still no sign of RTE1, RTE2 etc. Box is connected to our phone line (I think) - installer certainly wired it up.

    Any advice?

    leave on Sky1 or Skynews
Make sure card fully in on BOTTOM slot.

Can take up to 24 hrs.

    Phone line irrelevent.

Are the channels listed from 101-104 on the EPG? If so, does it say "This programme is unavailable?"

If it says this, then it means the card is a confused one, and while RTE's won't work, you can manually tune in Channel 4 and five, and they will work in Other Channels.

How do you get channels 4 & 5. What frequencies etc.

EPG shows BBC London at 101, which I think is where RTE 1 should be.

Still at a loss as to what should happen

Do you have ITV on 103 and Channel 4 on 104?

Are you sure that channel 5 can be got? I thought you needed some sort of card for that

Yes you do need a card. All Sky cards are identical till set by Sky either Over the air or before posting. If a card shows BBC1 etc from 101 onwards instead of RTE on 101 onwards, then it temporalliy "thinks" it is a UK card and often decodes C4 and Five.

It suddenly dawned on me the other night....try the age old IT solution, so I plugged out the box and plugged it back in again and lo and behold, RTE1, RTE 2 etc appear in the EPG. where BBC London, ITV 1 were. Now all i have to do is reprogramme ITV1 -4

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions

I think you will have to put ITV 1 and 2 in the "other channels"
Not 100% sure of that but the other guys here will advise
