Did you ever try sending a 10 mb attachment ?
    I couldn't but found 7.5mb would go.

The best way to send bigger files is to use winzip or winrar.
You can create a compressed file in parts.
So if you had a 50mb file winzip would create 6 7.5mb files and a 5mb file
Just send the in single mails and then on the other end the can be joined up again.

Programs like winzip will allow you zip something into chunks of your choosing. Could do it that way but would be a lot of emails.

It could also be caused by timeouts. If your upload speed is insufficient, the connection will time out before you can fully upload the file.

Can you send .exe files if you use winzip?

Kind of. Even if you put it into a .zip, gmail will scan the archive and refuse the send because it contains an executable file. Simply change the extension of the .zip file (to .xxx or something) and gmail won't scan it.

Or just use the free yousendit.com to "email" files up to 1Gb, using your current email address.

Thats what I was just about to say.

Have a look at www.rapidshare.de. Download rates at 120kb/s for me and fast uploads aswell. Does the job.

Sendspace is better than rapidshare, no bloody limit per hour
(they have a bandwidth limit instead, once 100GBs worth of any one file is downloaded, it's deleted)

It's decently fast (100Kb/s) and can have files up to 1.2GBs.
