I have only recently started upping my online play (mostly cash games). Profits are modest so far, and I am by no means a great online player.

I just wondered what peoples hand played percentages typically are so that I can work out if I am seeing too many/few flops. I know this is a relatively small sample size (esp for Omaha), but would be interested to hear views of my stats and see others too. This is from PokerStars....

    ************************************************************
    Hold'em (Real Money):

1416 hands played and saw flop:
    - 69 times out of 171 while in small blind (40%)
    - 92 times out of 167 while in big blind (55%)
    - 172 times out of 1078 in other positions (15%)
    - a total of 333 times out of 1416 (23%)

Pots won at showdown - 38 out of 74 (51%)
Pots won without showdown - 81
    ************************************************************
    Omaha (Real Money):

180 hands played and saw flop:
    - 18 times out of 23 while in small blind (78%)
    - 21 times out of 25 while in big blind (84%)
    - 67 times out of 132 in other positions (50%)
    - a total of 106 times out of 180 (58%)

Pots won at showdown - 15 out of 18 (83%)
Pots won without showdown - 12

Edit: These hands are mostly at 0.50/1.00 in both Omaha and Hold'em

I don't think these statistics are of much use. For example if you play 100 hands heads up and then 100 hands 9-handed, the statistics are all lumped together. If you are serious about analysing your play based on statistics there are programs you can buy to help you do it. I don't have any but I know several people here have, ask for advice.

If it's any use at all, you seem to be winning an awful lot of hands at showdown in Omaha. Maybe you are folding too much on the river. Again take this with a grain of salt. Also you are playing a lot of hands, I probably play too many hands and it looks like you play at least as many. Maybe fold a lot more hands in early position (I assume these are all 9-handed).

All these stats are from 9 (or nearly) handed tables. I am aware that pokertracker etc can provide analysis of percentages and so on, and I intend to invest in this (I know I should have already, but moot point now).

All advice/comments taken with a kilo or two of salt.

Not much wrong with the hold em stats, which I assume is NL. 23% of flops seems fair, and a good indicator for whether you are playing well in my opinion is the number of pots won without showdown relative to the number of hands showndown - if you have won more without showdown than you have gone to showdown with then you are generally playing fairly well I think. In fact on Stars I always considered this stat to be the most important to how I have been playing (excepting money won / lost obviously).

Is this short handed NL or full table? If its 6 max tables then you should probably see more flops. Also your wins at showdown % is too low. You should be aiming for 55-60% but this is far too small a sample.

These are nearly all 9-handed tables. I have played a negligible amount at 6-handed. A decent proportion of the hands not won at showdown I would attribute to hands checked down when I had no interest in betting it. I have found that at this level it is not worth bluffing a small pot as I believe a lot of the pots would be too small unraised ($3-$4) to justify trying to steal, as most small bets here tend to get a caller even when there is no way they should call.

Aggression levels is probably something I will have to address, but I will continue to store and use these stats and will hopefully see a better trend emerging over a larger hand sample size.

    Thanks for the input.
