    does anyone know if ya can flash a phone through a bluetooth dongle and the right software??

    No, you need cable (and normally not the standard sync cable), software and often a hardware box as well

    its a samung d500, i was told i might need the cable, just wanted to check that i couldnt use the dongle, thanks

    It updates the OS s/w on the phone. So if your phone has any s/w bugs updating the firmware on your phone may fix these bugs. Pretty much like installing a new version of windows on your PC.

    Also many phones ship with firmware specific to Vodafone, O2 etc, if you can find a generic flash it means you can remove the operators branding and limitations

    nice one, can it be done for any phone? I have a samsung zv10 could a new OS be put on that? also what sort of limitations would vodafone have put on the phone?? thanks.

    I flashed my Samsung Z500v phone last week. I used the data cable that came supplied with it (vodafone RTG). Now it's a lot better and at last the alarm works properly!

    I found www.mobile-review.com forums very helpful for finding out what firmware to use and how to flash the phone. Worth checking out and searching.
