    Is this possible?

The Apple website says it only works on Tiger 10.3.

Is there any other one I'm not seeing? I need it to run the Gimp.

Sorry if this has been asked before. I ran a search for x11 and nothing came up.

    It works fine on Tiger.

Not on my tiger it doesn't. It says on the web site that it only works on versions of 10.3 to 10.3.9. I tried downloading it anyway and as it was installing it said I have newer software already installed on my comp.
But then the Gimp still says I need x11.

    That's odd - I'm using it now!

    edit:
having checked - the version on the website is 1.0, and it looks like that
only works with Panther. I'm using 1.1, which I installed from the Tiger DVD.

X11 comes with Tiger, at least, I have 1.1 also (maybe I downloaded it, I forget). Check out your OS install disks and install the developer pack, afair you install as if you are installing a fresh OS but you install ONLY the developer package. I'm 99% sure I installed it from there.

There are some cool things on the developer pack too so it's worth the HD space if you have it.

Tiger is 10.4, not 10.3. Did you download the correct version of X11?

Ya I know, that's why I said I downloaded it anyway, even though the web site says it works on 10.3 to 10.3.9, and I have Tiger.

I'll go see if I can find the install disk and do it that way.
    Thanks guys.

X11 version 1.1 if definitely the Tiger version. On the install DVD somewhere...

The install disk keeps telling me to back up all my files before I use it. So Im kind of wary about installing anything from it. I've lost my original Final Cut disk so if that gets deleted I'm screwed!

try putting in the DVD, opening the DVD in finder,
then go to System/Installation/Packages and double click on X11User.pkg.
I think that'll install X11 without messing with anything else.

    but I'm no expert :)
