VW & Lidl MP3 Car Radio

    Hi,
I have received the Lidl Silvercrest MP3 Car Radio as a Christmas present. The problem is that once the ingition key is removed the radio looses it's settings.

I have read in another post http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054864538 that, as Flankerb said "VW/Seat/Audi/Skoda drivers you made need a harness adapter the code is PC2-69-4 I hope halfords has this also because the radio keeps losing its settings otherwise. "

Does this harness in some way provide voltage to the radio when the ignition key is removed or is it just a pass through connection? I was thinking of bringing voltage directly from the battery to port 51 (listed in car manual) on the radio. This would keep voltage to the radio but if the radio was left on overnight the battery would probably flatten.

I have looked in the following locations for information on the harness but no mention of constant voltage being supplied.

    http://ecwuk.com/auto/adaptors/harness/index.htm

I like the radio, especially the bit where I can listen to audio downloads that I want to listen to using and SD card or USB memory.

Anyone know what is the maximum size SD card/USB memory that the radio will read/write? It does say in the manual that it will write to the SD card so I am guessing that it will not write to the USB memory.

    Cheers.

They're the two wires with the black fuse casings on them, disconnect the connectors from your car, open the casings and swap the wires connected to the fuses so that there's a red wire going in to one and a yellow coming out of it and the other has a yellow wire going in and a red one coming out.

    For what it's worth:
I had the exact same problem with a MD/CD player I got for my car (VW Golf). I got them to have a look at it when getting it serviced - they fixed it for nothing so I don't think it's a big deal.

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I did some testing of the wires later in the evening. There are two wires that you can swap over, one is colour coded red/wire and the other is brown/red. The red/white is in port 7 (numbered on the plug) and the brown/red is numbered 4. Just swap them using a strip connecter (you may have a different name for this) and the radio is working great now.

NOTE : this is not an offical document, carry out these actions at you own peril.

    Just in case!

Thanks for the heads up, guys.
