With two sand-glass egg timers, one which times out 7 minutes and the other times 4 minutes, how would you time 9 minutes?

Turn them both at the same time. When the 4 minute runs out, turn it over again immediatly.
When the 7 minute runs out, turn it over. When the 4 minute runs out again, (8 minutes) turn the 7 minutes over, and when it finishes it will have been 9 minutes.
