    use Dr DivX

or you could use DVD Decrypter which is free..
do a search on google for it

Okay .... had a quick look at your link and see that the program you are using only outputs Xvid , that is , its just an encoder that will convert your DVD's to Xvid and makes them playable using the Xvid codec ,

Now I may be totally wrong here but , as far as i know Xvid is mainly for Unix and Linux , and wont be compatible with Windows Media Player ,

Your best bet is to forget about that guide , download DVDShrink , its much better , does not need to encode yourDVD and makes most DVD's playable off the harddrive from a straight copy over using any Software DVD player ,

here is a link , the software is free and the manual is downloadable here also , its a breeze to use ,

xvid works on wmp but your suggestion would work too

thing is file size. Using dvd shrink is gonna make a compressed dvd image which is not what you really want filling up your harddrive.

Going by your guide, you use dvd decrypter first. Make sure its in IFO mode.

    Click mode>IFO

Click select folder>pick a folder where you want it to rip to.

Once thats done close dvd decrypter and start AUTOGK.

Click open input file and select the .IFO file in the folder you previously ripped the dvd.

Click the set output file. Select the audio tracks you want, generally just pick one, its usually the main 5.1 sound option. Pick your file size, 700-1000mb's should do for most things.

    Click add job then start.

Then sit back as it encodes. Beaware that this can take 1.5-3hrs depending on the length of the film and the speed of your machine. Also make sure you have enough free space for the encode, in general around 10gigs is plenty inc the dvd files on your hdd and the conversion.

Xvid is just a codec and is very popular on windows. I presume it comes with wmp as stanard if not you can get it by downloading XVID CODEC. Of course if your using AutoGK it should have installed and registered it for you : \

Good luck with it, its pretty easy thanks to autogk, just takes some time. Make sure to delete all the temp files when your finished.

when i try and open the .IFO file in aotogk there are several .VOB and .IFO files this must be because im doing something wrong in dvd decrypter
ill try it again now as your instructions are way more clear than the ones on that guide

it might just be the folder that you have to pick for input. Haven't used it in a while, but I'll check in a bit. Will post with screen shots.

Yeah it's pretty much as I said above.
