i'm awaiting the shipment of my X-FI platinum but in the mean time i'm gonna use this.. problem is the damn thing won't work for me!

i can't get it to show up in the hardware manager in the control panel and i've installed just about everything google turned up for me!

basically i've done everything short of flash the Bios.:(

there has to be something stupid i'm not doing!

    Installed mobo drivers?

    Chipset drivers?
    first thing i did!

Seperate audio drivers independant of the chipset and the audio chip does not reside on the actual chipset

they were bundled together on the cd... lan "audio" chipset ide sata etc.

    i'm at a loss:confused:

    ive tried the ones from:
    msi home
    realtek home
    the original cd!

    no joy!!

the nvidia nforce drivers can come with sound drivers as well. see if u have them installed. if so uninstall and reinstall the realtech ones. i had a similar problem with mine and this did the trick.

have you anoter pci soundcard lying around. Plug that in and see if windows picks up a new device?

  • Registered Users Posts: 677 ✭✭✭Doc_Savage

i don't but i plugged in a firewire card and modem into the pci slots and it picks up and installs the software for them straight away!

if you have front panel audio you may want to check if you wired it correctly. If you haven't all of the audio won't work.

just tried that... wired it unwired it.. now i have it bypassed with jumpers.. still not showing up in the device manager!

had the same problem with my sckt 754 msi board, looks like the sound is knackered on it

mine was working fine and stopped one day, reinstalled everything and it still didnt work. never worked since... mobo issue i'd say

Try starting in safemode and see if there are any conflicts. Sometimes they show here and not in normal mode. Short of that sounds to me like it might be a dead motherboard also.

    Timeout
