Has anyone done this in the guide clinic? im planning on going for a sti check up soon and dont particularly want, if any tests prove positive, it going down on my medical record because in future years if this info is found you'll pay more for insurance etc.

    any advice welcome....

Wouldn't recommend it. Will also create a lot of problems with other relevant information deepening the coverup. You could invalidate insurance if found out by providing false information and your name may be 'flagged' on all systems. Don't think it should make much difference to cost of insurance anyway.

I think this sounds like a solid idea with no possible consequences! Go for it.

Surely the price of your insurance would be the least of your worries if it was positive...

Give your real name. And use a condom next time. And don't shag so many skanks.

The lad has knob-rot and he's worried about the price of insurance??

As far as I know, those tests are 100% confidential, so I don't think it goes down on your medical history. If you give a fake name and are caught it could get very messy indeed!

There's home tests you can buy if you want anonymity.
I have no idea how good they are, though. Does anyone here know?

a doctor -CANNOT- release any information without your consent, unless he is consulting with directly related professionals about the incident in question.

instead of making the clinic's staff's job harder why not ask them exactly who can receive this information. unless of course somebody else (your employer etc.) has mandated this test?

If something does show up, it's time to own up to your actions.

By all means give a fake name if that makes you more comfortable. Just be sure to remember it for when you go back for the results. They'll usually ask for a DOB too. I've given a fake name before and it's never been a problem (though not at St James). In fact it seems fairly common place. Any STI clinic I've been to is completely free.. so don't worry about cost/insurance. And the poster who suggested use a condom - it is possible to get STIs even if wearing a condom so less of your unhelpful preaching. Good luck.

yea its funny on these threads, there's always a few people who like to jump on the high moral bandwagon and give a lecture about abstinence or some sh*t, give it a rest

as for the op's q, i know someone who did this and had no trouble. They probably know that some people would do this and they i dont think they really care.

I also said stop shagging skanks. Used together with a condom should be a recipe for not getting sti's.

Sorry if I'm not riddled like apparently you are, but it just doesn't really appeal to me :(

Whatever about not being overly fussy about the name of anyone who just gets a test, there are strong public health reasons for properly identifying people with infections.

    They do care.

Insurance companies have, bizarrely, been known to penalise people who admit to having had a test.

Apparently, though, the STI clinics generally don't release this sort of thing.

And anyone who's sexually active should be having these tests moderately frequently.

See the thing is that the OP can probably get rid of his/her STI. You, on the other hand, will probably always be a judgemental idiot. If you've nothing useful to contribute to the thread then why bother contributing at all?

A friend of mine always used the alias Conor Fox for anything dodgy. He thought it was funny, and it is. He's dead now so you can use it if you like.

Note that the OP doesn't say they have an STI. They're just getting a routine check, as any sexually active person should every now and again.

He drowned some years ago while yachting off the coast of Denmark.

As others have said, there are no consequences to using your real name, and you make life a little more difficult by lying.

Insurance companies may ask "Have you ever contracted a sexually transmitted disease?". They won't ask, "Did you ever go to an STD clinic, give them your real name and then test positive for an STD?"

Haha. Get the ferk out of here. I've never come across an insurance company that's asked me that.

Oh, for goodness sake! If you're worried, give a false name. If it turns out to be positive you can always go back and give your real name. "What? Identical to me? How extraordinary!"

Many insurance companies do indeed ask that question, I was asked a few years ago when I was getting a mortgage.

    Not car insurance, health insurance.

The fake name mite be an option. If u are getting an AIDS test your life assurance will be higher and also u may be refused a mortgage in futyre - infact - some lenders will refuse point blank. Its a question on the form "have u ever had an AIDS Test"?

Odd, I have health insurance and a life insurance policy and wasn't asked this.

Me neither, but my Dad's car insurance company attempted to up his premium because he has Type 2 Diabetes...it just depends on the insurance company and what questions they want to ask for whatever type of insurance you're getting. I'd imagine that STDs would feature on some life policies (I don't have one of these). I had forgotten that health insurance is largely risk-equalised so they probably don't ask that question.

Have you ever had sex, or kissed anyone? If you have, you may have an STD. Some of them are really quite easy to pick up. There is no problem whatsoever with getting a test; most people should, periodically.

If I remember correctly you can get tested in BAggot St without giving your name. And yes- they do ask on life insurance forms have you got hep C etc.
