Mouse wheel too sensitive in games...solution?

My mouse wheel is very sensitive when used in Counter Strike for example....it scrolls through the weapons way too quickly. I went to decrease its sensitivity in the mouse controls, but it was at its lowest. Would this be a problem with the mouse itself? Because the 3rd button (clicking the wheel) isnt the best either. Its only new btw, just a few days old. A Microsoft mouse from Peats, cost me €30. Still have the receipt too.

    Any help would be great.
    Cheers
    Cian

Do you have the Microsoft software installed? With my MS mouse the wheel was way to fast once the software was installed.

You can turn down how many lines the wheel scrolls, maybe that will fix it.

Yeah it's the number of lines, set that to something between 1 and 4, and you should be grand.

'tis. But then there can be a big difference in the response between all mice.

what mouse is it? If it doesn't have detents (little clicks when you scroll the mouse wheel), then its going to be absolute sh*te for playing games with when scrolling through weapons.

MS even released their 'gamer' mouse with detents, knowing this.
