Meteos scores

Since Meteos is hugely addictive, maybe we should set up some high score leaderboard.

Does anyone think this is a good idea? Maybe some suggestions on how to run it and retr0 can mod it.

We could just get people to post their scores and make sure we define what home planet and game mode to use and any other options.

Because i'm brilliant. I'm a big fan of launching the whole screen in a massive combo after filling it using the speed up icon. In fact there is no point launching unless the screen is filled.

I kinda came to that realisation over my last few games, but I keep forgetting to use speed-up. I suppose it comes down to a fine balance of trying to keep the screen loaded with meteos, but then forcing yourself to have to be very quick because any slight error will end the game

Except I haven't touched Meteos since first starting Castlevania a couple of days ago

I'm not sure but I think your score rises a lot faster if you use the speed up. The game is too insane to get a decent look at the score while playing!

Yay, I got about 56,400 yesterday! Using the speed up button really helps

I have no idea how to do better, though I got 54,000 another time, and with about 15 seconds left I got annihilated

I keep getting a combo multiplier of x06, it must be possible to get higher cos it's got two digits! But how...

Are you better off picking up fewer columns each time you bounce, or more? Like, should I match two meteos in the bottom corner of my falling stack to just one meteos on the adjacent stationary column? Or get three mostly lined up so when the falling stack lands I just have to flip the middle one and make a five-meteos thrust? Heh, it's hard to explain without pictures o_O

And should I be launching lots of other meteos while I'm waiting for my main stack to fall, or just use speedup, or what?

So many questions...

You get more points for unburnt meteos but better thrust and multiplier for burning 5. It's really what you think is best. Remember to always burn from the bottom of the stack.

I always wait for my first main stack to fall and while I'm doing it I'll arrange the meteos around it so I can combo the whole screen. I try to set it up so that before the main stack falls I can combo the whole screen while speeding up as much as possible on all stacks after the first and only moving a single meteos to initiate the burn before they hit the bottom. Then a few nudges and repeat. You get more points for launching loads every so often than with lots of small launches.

Watched a few videos of the pros and it seems the best thing to do is not to launch the whole screen but keep launching it from the bottom of the screen until it just shoots straight off the screen. On geolita you can get up to x8 multiplier. Unfortunately the pros use the stylus to speed up constantly and the dpad to move meteos, something I won't be doing with my hand in a cast.
