I only have a vague understanding of this situation, so If anyone can explain a little better, that'd be good.
My understanding is that, an Author, Salman Rushdie, wrote a book, The Satanic Verses, critisising Islam, and the Islamic leaders urged all muslims to try and hunt him down and kill him.
How can a religion justify this? Do people not have the basic right to free opinion and speech? Why didn't they just address the critisism with a good response?
