Dixons deal on WACS700

    I spotted in todays Mirror that Dixons have the EISA Award Winning Philips WACS700 WiFi 40Gb Music Centre - Base + Receiver for €800.

    Its in Power City for €950 and the Philips shop for €999.

    Nice little saving for a multi-room (well 2 room) wireless audio system.....

    mmmmm, nice, does anyone know how good it is at streaming music from a PC over wi-fi?
    i.e can you see the PC folders from the philips unit and just pick a folder?

    hi daveym - Stuff did a review of it recently, so you could look there.

    Just google WACS700 and there are plenty of reviews......

    Not sure how or if it streams from your PC/laptop. There's a 40Gb HDD anyway and it handles mp3. Will even convert CDs to mp3.....

    Now if only I had €800.........

    yeah had a look at the online reviews they say it streams but don't say exactly how, will check out stuff. I have about 100GB of mp3 on a 250GB HD hooked up to my laptop so want to be able to look at that directly if possible, have been looking at the sonos players, they are pretty cool but this one looks ok, except without the cool remote. do you know
    if that review is in the current stuff?

    this link appears to have plenty of reviews and info.

    From my cursory reading it looks like it will only stream from it's own hard drive, not an external one
