Now Ive laways been a fan and I really dont know what the problem is but it's been going on for the last while now.

I can be browsing away single or multi tabbing and all of a sudden the browser wont let me access a page. This morning I was getting insurance quotes and it was working grand for 1/2 hour say and all of a sudden id get the firefox warning page "Firefox cannot connect to this site" Then all the tabs will drop their connection.

So I was able to still open the odd site like firefox, Gmail but not others like google or boards. The internet connection was definately still up as my poker client remained connected, Mirc remained connected and I was able to ping all the sites I couldn't access.

Im on firefox 1.5 using fasterfox, Win 2000 pro, XP200+ 756MB Ram. Dont know if I can give any more details to help but if anyone can assist that would be great.

Have you got fasterfox set to mind boggling, bandwidth raping speeds?

Fasterfox is a pox. Someone set it up on the machine at home and it killed everyone elses connection.

Firefox actually crashed on me a few weeks ago. Got a message "Firefox.exe has encountered an error and needs to close", typically associated with IE and I'm well used to it

    I was gobsmacked.....:v:

I have a funny little problem that the odd time when I close it and open it again it won't open... Have to end the firefox.exe process in my task manager and then open FF again...

Weird that... I haven't updated to 1.5 (don't like it as much and I've soooo many extensions)... maybe that's it...

What don't you like? Not much difference as far as I can see (aside from nice changes), and a handy extension update feature is included (although you're right, they aren't all supported yet).

Actually now that I think of it it seems to only happen when I close the browser with GMail open... weird that...

Goodshape, maybe it was just when the 1.5 beta was out I didn't like it... Haven't tried it since then...

I dunno... it looks different to me... change scares me...

I'm running 1.5 at work, since the beta in fact, and it's fine. In fact, it's a lot better than the 1.07 I have at home. I must update that too but like others, it's the extensions that have stopped me so far. Still, I only really need a handfull. It could be all the extensions on the one at home that are causing the problems. I have 5 extensions on 1.5, and it must be 20 or more on 1.07 at home. Don't even know what most of them are any more.

At work, I only reboot the PC every week or two, whenever it becomes necessary, and Firefox is running continuously for all that time. I never have to close it, and it never crashes. Currently running since Monday with 3-8 tabs at any time and it's using 70MB memory.
