    hey all,

i've been playing £10 stts on betfair now for a while and decided to log my recents results to see how i was fairing....
for the last 29 ive played
    won 6, lost 12, 2nd in 11
    with 45 for 1st and 15 for 2nd for a total investment of 319 i've made 116 profit. which is about 36% ROI(i think).

My question is, is this a good ROI and should i be thinking of moving up a level or should i stay where i am?.

    Any advice welcome...cheers

29 STT's is too few to get any information out of. You really want to be looking at around 500-1000 stt's before you get any proper statistical info from it.

This will take into account good and bad runs and give a better picture.

Also make sure you have enough money in your bankroll or can afford to redeposit should things go belly-up at a higher level.

I'd suggest at least 100-200 games where you are though before you make any decision.

    thanks for the replies...

i agree with your point on the too few games played....

question is, what ROI would you see a success at this level......if i was still maintaining over 30% ROI after 500 games do think i should move up.....or is this too low?

    cheers

You should try to maintain your ROI of 36%. Falling even slightly below this becomes border line profit. A consistent ROI of 37/38% over a couple of hundred games would be a safe bet to move up. If and when you do move up monitor your performance at the higher level too and if the ROI drops, don't hesitate to move back down to the $10 STT's.

So would you consider 36% ROI as good going or just average....if so what would you consider to be good roi, regardlesss of stt level....

    cheers

It is good going, but you knew that. -10% is average. After 29 tourneys you could be just a bad player on a good run. Move up if you think you are a good player, there's nothing in your results to indicate you should move up.

I think straddlefox is confusing ROI with ITM.

You need to be finishing in the money (ITM) to be making a profit but what you've actually calculated is your profit. So, as long as you are making a profit its up to you whether you are happy with it or not based on time invested etc...

36% is good but I agree with the others... Clock up 1000 games and see how you're doing.

    Edit:

Above should have read - You need to be finishing in the money (ITM) about 36% of the time to be making a profit

if u are winning at that level and still learning the game, no rush to move up stakes.

a lot of newbies etc, move up to fast , and then hit some bad variance and lose their roll.

That said, if u are comfortable playing for a bit more, and the money at stake wont effect your decision making, no harm giving it a try.

Just careful bankroll management and documentation of results is the key.

in terms of recording results what do most people use......
at the moment i'm just using an excel sheet......just wondering if there are any other handy tools out there i could use?

    cheers

Don't think there's anything out there for betfair. There are sites that sell the stats of all players. E.g. Pokerprophecy.com. Here you can get how many games; what buy in; ITM %; etc of each player. So when you sit down at the table it will tell you exactly who's good and who's not. This site reckons a pro gets 37% ITM finishes, so your not doing too bad jobless.
