Enterprise Journey Times

I remember reading a report about the then-planned introduction of the Dublin-Belfast Enterprise service that was penned prior to the new service being launched and it envisaged journey times between Dublin to Belfast being something in the range of 1hour 30minutes, or 1hour 40minutes.

Anyone who's travelled on the Enterprise between Dublin-Belfast will probably notice that it takes alot longer than this, in fact the CIE timetable suggests journey times are more like 2hours 10minutes.

Does anyone know why this is? How come those those original targets set out were never met? I realise that the train can sometimes stop in Portadown for about fifteen minutes while a connecting train pulls up but that doesn't full make up for the difference...

Also, how can they justify/permit a regional/commuter service to delay an intercity service for that length of time??
