Codec Support

Does anybody know where i could get info on what audio codecs a specific phone supports? I've tried doing it through google, but so far i haven't turned up much. Is there a directory(or something similar), or will i have to dig through forums for what i want? Most brands official websites don't offer what i'm looking for.

the GSM Voice Codec, shipped with Windows since Windows 98 at least, would be one !
