Have a new shuttle socket 754 SN85G4 (fn85 motherboard). Installed everything in 10mins and booted up. All went well...or so i thought.

My performance was just a little off, i couldn't put my finger on it till i rebooted and noticed that my RAM was only reading 512mb instead of 1Gb (2x512mb Adata ddr 400 3200).

Just assumed one of them was loose so i reseated both...still only 512 on bootup. ran cpu z and it says i have a gig but the bios and windows system info only shows my RAM as 512.

Then i tested each stick of RAM in each slot and it booted fine each time....

I'm at a bit of a loss. Am i missing some obvious switch, jumper, setting etc?

Is everyone as stumped as me?;)

Well, I might just buy myself a single 1Gb stick of RAM and sell this dual channel stuff....there might be a pair of matched Adata pc3200 512mb for sale very very soon.

If you have any other similar ram around did you try them?

Is it possible you have a dodgy ram socket thingy... (they're called DIMMs right?)

Unfortunately, I've no other RAM lying around. Thing is each stick is recognised in each DIMM. So i reckon both DIMMs are working and both sticks seem to be working....just not together.

I hope to **** it isn't the shuttle/ shhuttle mainboard as i got it new off an ebay trader, so god knows if there is an RMA procedure
