so i was coming home from doctor the other day. decided to get the bus because my asthma was bad and i didn't want to set it off by walking. so i went to the bus stop and waited. and waited. and for the hell of it, i waited some more. EVENTUALLY the bus pulls up and a load of old dears were at the bus stop so i let them on. they complained because he was late and he just ignored them. so i pay my one thirty-five and we pull away. next stop, we pull up to the bus stop and a wheelchair passenger wants to get on so he grumbled about lowering the floor and let the passenger on. next stop, more old dears and a buggy. the buggy shouldn't have been let on because there was a wheelchair on, but exceptions can be made. as we pull away there's a big beeping noise and a little bit of smoke, bus gets a bit chugg-chugg-chugg but manages to get away and keeps going. the bus driver IGNORED the passengers at the next stop, and one of the old dears was trying to get off, and he let her off... 2 stops later. as she was getting off she said "there's a flashing light saying check engine at next stop" and he told her to mind her own business, so she shook her umbrolly at him and got off the bus. next was my stop, which he missed by about 50 metres, breaking traffic lights and again ignoring the passengers. so i got off, as the beeping, smoke and chugging started again, and it broke down.

felt sorry for the other passengers but thought the driver deserved it!

That driver, like all CIE company employees has little or no fear of being sacked. So he behaves like an ignorant pig. I've seen it many times and it never gets any better. If that guy was working behind the till in a retail environment he'd be handed his cards.

Probaly not his fault, not like he can drive cars off the road to there quicker. DOnt blame him for ingoring them, i would of. Nothing worse then being behind someone whos complaing about the driver being late.

"hello, thick ****er, your making the bus even later by standing there and complaining"

When did the fare go up to 1.35? think i always paind 1.30. ****, cant remeber.

****'d if you do, and ****'d if you dont. He doesnt let her on, people whinge about how he left a young mother alone in the street to starve to death, are some bollox like that.

damn right, something tells me his not blind or deaf. ITs failry obvious he notices it himself, doesnt need some old cow to tell him.

Ignores other passengers = thought you would of been pleased, considering people where whinging about the driver being late in the first place. This is a good way of saving time for you.

Not only that, but he breaks the traffic lights aswell in an attempt to get there sooner, yet you still arent happy.

Why is there no national public transport lobby to deal with this kind of thing. Look at health care...lots of lobbies trying to improve services. Who do we have, Conor Faughan! Bus users tend to moan to themselves when they need to be organised otherwise this kind of behaviour will always exsist.

Yeah you are right. Probably not his fault. It also wasn’t the fault of the passengers. The passenger has a right to tell the driver she is not happy. How about explaining that it wasn’t his fault instead of being a prick?

    Agreed. No possible win here.

damn right, something tells me his not blind or deaf. ITs failry obvious he notices it himself, doesnt need some old cow to tell him.

Regarless of whether or not he needs “some old cow” to tell him is not relevant. You simply to do tell a customer to mind their own business. How hard would it have been to say thankyou?

This has some distinct troll like qualities. It is standard DB practice to pass customers in order to make up time?

Not only that, but he breaks the traffic lights aswell in an attempt to get there sooner, yet you still arent happy.

So it is OK to break red light and endanger passengers and other road users in order to get back to the depot for a cup of tea, a dump and a good whine about fcuking customers?

You see there is no excuse for this type of behaviour. You cannot treat your customers like sh1t simply because some of them treat you like sh1t. You wouldn’t get away with it in other companies or industries and they shouldn’t get away with it in DB.

Who is going to be first to roll out the old faithfuls? “But they have a really hard job.” “The customers are really rude to them.” “It is a stressful job.” “The seats are really hard.” I haev news for you. DB drivers do not have the monopoly on hard or stressful jobs, rude customers or hard seats. They are lucky they are in nice union protected jobs. If they were working in my company, or any other I have worked for, they would be handed their P45 before they got their first payslip. And that is exactly how it should be.

So he ignored a warning light - big deal! Does the old bag know more about buses than the driver? Most of those warnings really don't need to be heeded on the spot unless it's over temperature or low oil pressure - that's when i'd start worrying. Would you get out and walk from your car if something like say the ABS warning light came on? No, i'd just take it easy until the end of the journey.

People break red lights all the time get over it.

TBH, he prob knew the bus was on it's last legs and wanted to try get to a terminus before it went. If it was over heating, last thing he wanted to be doing was stopping at stops, and def not sitting while an old dear was whining on.

If that is the case surely the correct thing to do is to stop the bus, radio for assistance, inform your passengers that the bus has broken down, apologise to them and wait for a replacement bus?

But I'm only a Dublin Bus customer what would I know?

I do not doubt he knows more about buses than the old bag. Can you explain to me why this allows him to be rude to her when she probably thought she was being nice?

Oh right, sorry I didn't realise this. I still have to get used to the Irish legal system. It is just that in most other civilised countries you aren't allowed to break the law simply because other people do. I'm sure that defence will work really nicely in court. I know I weould be more than happy to hear that as an excuse from a driver that ran a red light and injured me or a loved one.

Regardless of what other people do someone who is driving for a living and has the responibility for a number of people as he goes about his work, especially when in control of a large vehicle, shoul dbe held to a higher standard and should obey the rules of the road.

    Im nice to my passengers!

I have driven many buses wuth that check engine light on, most stay on all day and night.
correct thing to do is to stop the bus, radio for assistance
Normal response is can you get it to town?
inform your passengers that the bus has broken down
We didnt get to that part of the original poster got off.
apologise to them and wait for a replacement bus?
Some guys when having one of them days dont know how to express themselves or control the situation.

    Compare this to other jobs.
I have been treated like dirt in various places, supermarkets mainly would be my pressure point.
Some of us keep it semi controlled but other dont, complain but it is useless complaining to the driver if he doesnt want to hear about it. Go higher.

Any nice drivers out there today?? I went out of my way to help at least 3 people today, should have given them the addy!
