My eircom netopia modem died this morning, rang eircom and they are sending a replacement out.
Thing is i have boradband only about 11 months, surely the modem should survive longer than this.
Currently using me Da in laws` netopia router thingy with 4 ethernet connections and the wireless antenna,it too is provided by eircom.
Im running it via ethernet and all is well but he wants it back ofcourse.
Just wondering if anyone can suggest a better modem than the netopia 3300 or whatever standard modem eircom will send to me?

Would i gain any performance with another modem maybe?
If yes will any adsl modem work with eircom boradband?

No, doubt you'll gain any noticable speed just by changing the type of modem/router.

    Try peats.com or komplett.ie

I'd also think about going Wireless with a Wi-Fi ADSL router but you'll need a WiFi card in your PC for that - Or you could buy one. Best solution in the long run
