Yes, that's very bad, but what about the pervert that continuously raped a 12 week old girl in England, while he & the girlfriend took photos of the abuse!

How could someone be so sick!!!

JHC - This is just terrible. Anyone know anything more?

really sad-to think that this could be going on right now in your neighbour hood. The sad fact was that there IS support out there with the likes of the ms societys etc.How can a daughter let this happen to her own mother

when I originally heard the story I thought it was about an old old woman on her own. Its so sad to think she was only 56 not old at all not much older than my own mam. How could someone do that to their own mother in their own home??? I hope the daughter is severaly punished

This is one of the most disturbing stories I have heard in a long time, dont really know what to say,

It is a terrible tragedy, however at this stage all the facts are not known. It was reported today that her brother and sister had not spoken to her since she got married. Given that her daughter is now in her 30's that means that it was over 30 years since they spoke to her. We are now to believe that they were around knocking at the door asking to be let visit. I find that slightly weird.
It was also reported that since her brother-in-law, whom she had left her husband for, had died, she had lost the will to live. She might not have co-operated with any attempts by her daughter to assist her.

Her daugher should be held accountable for neglect but I can't condem her until more information is available.

Good point foggy. I was wondering that myself - thats why I asked if anyone knew anything more on the story. I cannot see how anyone - I dont care if youre blind deaf and dumb - could leave someone to rot in those conditions.

Im really disturbed by this story. I sometimes worry about whos going to look after my folks when they are old - even tho its not for years yet - but the worry of having them in a nursing home and being mistreated is one thing, but to do this to them myself is unthinkable.

That defies belief ! Her weight had gone down to under 4 stone...
If you can't look after someone, there are people who can help. There's no excuse not to do so !!

Would be different (still horrific and saddening) if the lady was living alone... but her own daughter ? No morals.

I only hope there might be a mistake in the way this was reported but with the way things stand: sickening.

    Exactly. So horrific :(

just listened to the radio at lunch. mary Harney urging people not to blame the state or health services until more is known. Its wrong to blame the health services unless she had applied for help and not got it or if she was living on her own. Its her daughter needs to be held accountable for this. Yes, it can be hard to look after an elderly person but if they were having difficulty they could have at least contacted the authiorities and requested help. It must have taken some time for the poor woman to get into that state so theres no excuse. the MS society said they didnt have her details on file and would have helped if they had

I just can't for a second imagine someone being that evil. What's wrong with someone that they'd even think of doing something so horrific that let alone do it? I'll never understand it.

How could any daughter leave her mother in that state?? I just can't understand how someone could be so evil & neglecting.

As for rape of a 12 week old baby, i felt physically sick when i read article on it. He was only given 12 years & her 5 years. Hope inmates in the prison he is sent to will sort him out!!

Absolutely terrible, and disturbing. Had to have been going on for a long time for her weight to drop to 3.5 stone.
On a side note,it's just as bad to read that article with an add for loosing 10 pounds stuck right in the middle of it :(

she described people who were criticising her as small-minded

    un fcuking believable, toerag.

Hmmm... on the one hand there's the need to balance someone's wish to die, which seems to be the case here for the mother, against providing some medical comfort to let that happen peacefully and without any stress.

The daughter let the former happen but was totally neglectful in the latter to the point of cruelty. Probably the mother didn't know what what was going on and well out of it, or maybe was too physically uncomfortable or proud to ask for help (for whichever result was best)

No matter how strong willed someone is, and I have heard that people can get REALLY tetchy in the last days, it's no excuse whatsoever for neglect.

Still think there should be charges brought here !!

The article linked in the first post is low on content and high on sensationalism. The fact is that even know we don't know the situation that caused that women to die but ye all are very quick to condemn her daughter. Right now I don't know if she is culpable and I dare say neither do ye. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think we should all wait until we know the facts before forming an opinion.

****Edit: As to the second post, I really do hope that you are making that up. :(

I know exactly how you feel. When I heard the story on Sky News a couple of days ago I actually got sick. No kidding, I had to go into the toilet and puke. I was completely repulsed by it. I felt the same when I heard the story of that 3 or 4 year old girl who was abducted and raped a couple of weeks back but when I heard this story about the 12 week old baby it was too much for me to take and it made me throw up. And then I asked myself the question, "What in the holy f**k is wrong with the world?" Jesus H. Christ, how the hell is this kind of thing happening, you know? A 12 week old baby being raped, for God's sake. I just cannot get my head around this, I really can't.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a perfect example of why we should bring back the death sentence. And I don't care what the bleeding heart liberals are bound to come onto this thread now and say against it, how it's not right to take another person's life, how it's immoral, blah-de-blah-de-blah. F**k all that! People like these deserve to die, and not quickly either, oh no, no, no! Never mind hanging or the electric chair or lethal injection, that's too quick and painless for them. They deserve to be tortured, yes TORTURED to death, slowly and painfully, then have their bodies cut up into tiny little pieces and fed to sharks. Does that sound like too much and over the top to you? Not to me it doesn't. Just remember this....... it was a 12 week old baby they did this too. A baby! Think about that long and hard and then try and tell me that they still deserve to be let live.

never heard about that poor little baby... my god... that is so upsetting
there are some sick bastards out there.

i used to be against death penalties/executions but for crimes like that i think that punishment is too good for them.

    that poor child..

    It's a fcukin' bad world...
