Hi everyone, I am new to the boards!!!

Just wondering is anyone here going to see Jason mraz in Whelans on Valentines night? I'm in Spain at the moment and I'm going to travel back for the gig!!! He has sold out everywhere else on his tour and Whelans of all places is still available!

Let me know if you are going, I can't wait!!! I have liked him for the past 3 years and the fact i'm traveling from Spain to Dublin to see him says alot!!!

    see ya!

Excellent, so it won't be just myself and 20 or so friends at this gig - I totally agree about "After an Afternoon", on his live DVD its absolutely AMAZING followed closely by "Sleeping to Dream" and "1000 things".

Still can't believe it will be on in Whelans, how bloody lucky we are living in Ireland - pals of mine in the states who saw him had to put up with 5,000 or so other fans!

    See you all there!

Finally the mraz gig is getting a bit of recognition - i was getting that sinking feeling that it was gonna be me and about eight other people there!!!! Even whelans would have looked empty........ :)
Seriously though how can there still be tickets for this gig? I was freaking when they went on sale thinking they'd fly out the door
I'm not gonna pimp this gig (as that aint allowed....) but if you know anyone who isnt doing anything that night and they appreciate good music, thats all i'm gonna say - not gonna step on anyone's toes.......

I was talking on a Jason Mraz message board and a few people over there said that he plays more songs than the Live DVD even at his gigs!

I wonder what the set list will be! Whatever I don't hear at the Whelans gig, I hope I do where when I see him in Manchester!

What time you all headed at? The bar for a few before hand?:D

saw an ad in the herald last nite, turns out its a solo gig - that is gonna be excellent. It'll be just just like the java jones gig which you should check out before you go to this if you can. Dont know if you can download it anywhere but if you can i highly recommend doing it!!!

Wow! You guys like him then?!

I was thinking of going to him but to be honest I don't know much of his music just a few songs...could ye recommend an album/albums?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 127 ✭✭Bob Sakamano

He willl probably play alot of stuff off his new album Mr A-Z. Highly recommend the Java Joes record if ya can get your hands on it. Waiting for my rocket to come has all his main songs on it.

Since its gonna be a solo performance it will be very much like the Java Joe Cd

    Songs i'm praying for....

    After an afternoon
    Sleeping to dream
    Sleep all day
    Dream life of Rand McNally
    Please don't tell her
    Curbside Prophet
    You and I
    1000 things
    Absolutely Zero
    Unfold

If I get to hear even 3 of these songs then it will be money very very well spent! I am not kidding, if you don't have a ticket, get one, this gig promises to be amazing!!!!

Well only a few days to go now til the gig...bearing in mind that it's on Valentine's Day I hope the place isn't all couples!! I'll have to stand there being all cynical!!!

Have been listening to him a lot recently, would love it if he plays "I'm Yours" :D

Best news ever, might be meeting him for lunch!!! Its a long shot but my aunt's friend knows his tour manager as she works for MCD and is meeting them in the airport on Tuesday! She has my number & i'm hoping for a call!!!

On the note of have i been listening too him much....hmmmm....every room in the house, every song live or from studio haha

Don't worry about the couple thing....there won't be that many....I for one am going with 3 friends and my sister is going with 3 friends plus a whole bunch of others are going from my job!

    See ya there!!! Can't wait!!!:D

I don't want to build this up but it's DEFINITELY gonna be the best gig of the year. And so what if I couldn't get a date on Valentines and have to bring my brother........i'll cry into my pint later.

I hesitate to say this but that was better than Bloc Party in Whelans. The crowd were so into it. Fantastic gig roll on May!!!!

My favourite gig ever! He is awesome...tough break on getting dumped on Valentines - I'm sure he will survive...almost all my favourite songs and I was right up the front.....words can't describe....Roll on Manchester two weeks!!!!!:D

Toca made the gig for me. I didn't think he'd be with him. After an afternoon was my favourite song but Curbside Profit was a close second. He had great banter with the audience.

Aw wasn't it amazing!! God, I'm so glad I got to see him in Whelans...he definitely wasn't expecting the responce he got when he came out! It was fantastic...I recorded The Remedy and Curbside Prophet and the crowd singing along is FANTASTIC!

    Here's a few pics that I took...enjoy!

I've been a fan for years - couldn't wait for this gig. I got ticket number 11, 12, and 13 for me and my friends!

Gig was class - really really class - as good as John Mayers from (could it be 3 years ago!!!!)

Some guys upstairs were really stoopid.

What did you all think was the deal with James Blunt?

Do you think the crowd reaction was fair? I'm not a fan of him at all but i wonder how the tour went with mraz?

Tbh I don't think he thought the world of him myself! He didn't seem over-joyed when talking bout him...thought the story bout the airport was hilarious!:D

Man, there was some crowd there last nite - it was unreal. Hoping that the gig in the village is gonna have a similar (female and american) kind of crowd at it!!!;)

For anyone that doesn't know, tickets went on sale yesterday for the May 31st gig in the Village!!!

He will have his band with him the next time and it promises to be an amazing show, even if the venue isn't as good!

    :D
