Was planning to get a Pentium 4 540 3.2 Ghz processor and a Radeon X800GT 256MB PCI-E graphics card. Finding lots of conflicting advice so far.

    Ive used a few so-far...

DFI 925X-T2 - loads of features, typical DFI performence and tweaking abilities. Quite poor onboard sound.

Abit AA duramax board - good performer. Decent budget board.

Asus NF4 SLi Board - havent had much time to mess with this, bus has had my 3.4ghz booting at 4.4, havent tried to go further. Great BIOS.

yep..definitely advise going for the nforce 4 chipset...built in hardware firewall/gigabit lan plus all the usual...also built in 7.1 sound but if ur a gamer u'll be using a sound card to avoid using the processor if possible..definitely recommend the creative Xfi series..really sounds the business
