Battlefield 2 Booster Packs and Patch Update

    Community Bulletin – January 11, 2005

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to all of you.

Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.

Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.
The 3 maps are "Operation Smoke Screen", "The Great Wall of China and "Taraba Quarry".

Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps – "Midnight Sun", "Operation Harvest" and "Operation Road Rage" – but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.

Both packs will be available exclusively online at www.downloader.ea.com at £5.99.

As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:

    - Server search filters now work properly
    - All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.
    - Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives
    - Flash bang effect radius decreased
    - Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits
    - Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.
    - Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.
    - Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.
    - Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter
    - Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased
    - APC Update – "Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials". This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.
    - Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).
    - Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.
    - Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.
    - Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.

This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon. As always, thanks for your support and keep talking – we’re listening.

Well what do ye think of that?

I thought they were pretty crap already.

Typical EA games, " Give us more moey and ya can have more weapons than the other guy" I still think it unfair that ya need to but SF just to have the f2000 in normal BF2. I rember playing Burnout 3 on the xbox and seeing the message " buy some crappy EA games sports game ( cant rember witch one ) and get some super duper car unlocked in Burnout 3" Just like EA always after the fast buck.

Think i seen some mod that was bein made that had the special forces weapons in it. Maybe rippin off SF but at least anyone who aint got it can try em out properly insteada tryin to pick up kits all the time on normal. Dont ask which mod cuz cant remember

EA can rot in hell. This is the kind of crap that they used to give away for free in BFV/1942 patches (ww2 mod for vietnam was free, extra maps like fall of saigon and vehicles like the betty, or b52 bomber again, all free) and now they have the neck to start charging for this crap? Go f*ck yourselves, EA.
Theyve successfully turned one of my most anticipated games of 2005 into a f*cking marketing excercise in how to rake in a quick buck and to hell with the quality or bug testing

    You are wrong.

All you have to do is log into someones SF account and you will
    get all the SF unlocks.

Then when you go back to BF on your PC, you will still have all
    the unlocks.

It has worked for 3 guys in my flat alone who unlocked their
    weapons from my SF account.

ok let me get this right, if you were to give me ur account name and password and i logged in on my PC, then logged off and back in again under my own account, I'd have the SF unlocks???

    It would make sense....
When I logged in for the first time I got a load of unlocks in SF...
Isn't your product key associated with your username though?

    As Shiny said.....

When SF first came out I made an offer in a post on this forum to log into other peoples BF2 accounts with my SF just to associate their account with SF one time. Since then those people (all 4 mad people!) have had the SF unlocks available to them without having to buy it.

Only reason that was free was cos the system wasnt working to take your cash.

There not gettin my money for these 2 booster packs, the models themselves look crap, they should stop sending all there stuff to DICE canada and let the real guys work on the game.

Id rather wait for some free mods to come out that will be better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,480 ✭✭✭projectmayhem

i would much rather wait and see if they release a disc in the shops with both packs in there as a big expansion tbh

Im just wondering how are they going to get around people getting these packs without paying.

Something like BF:SF is ok, has its own CD key etc, but these are basically extra content for vanilla BF2, so once there installed you will have more guns, and the maps can be added to regular server map cycles (if you dont have the pack installed your kicked) But if you say get the files of a friend, and your using your payed for BF2 cd key, how does that work?

Will it not be like the work around for gettin the SF weapon unlocks in BF2?

    For those who don't know...

The Euro booster pack has been delayed. There is no official date for it's release.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,541 ✭✭✭irlrobins

Presume this mean patch is also delayed.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,912 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ponster

Well although no one has all the info, it's most peoples best guess that the delay of the Euro pack is because the patch is delayed, yes.

The problem of course is that since we were never given a date for the patch we can't complain about it being 'delayed' as such.

The server being used to test the 1.2 patch hasnt changed version in about 3 days now.

    1.1.2676-508

BTW, it seems that the Euro pack is coming out on the 16th and not the 8th.

oh it's not delayed at all..that's if u live in the states..
germany is releasing it on the 16th so we're probably the same..
this sucks..the whole point of downloadable games is to eliminate the middle man and same release date...screw u ea

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 317 ✭✭stag39

the separate release dates are so that their severs wont be swamped by tooo many pepole downloading it at the same time.. just a guess!;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 186 ✭✭MrTimewalk

Will there be any more unlocks in this new expansion?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,912 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ponster

No. There are 2 unlocks coming with the new 1.2 patch but only for Special Forces players.

Anyone with 3000+ points will get both unlocks.

The Euro pack contains all new weapons (probably just skins though) for the Euro armies but you can't use these in plain ol' BF2.

If you play SF just the once with your account then you'll be able to unlock the new SF weapons from within BF2.

WHY pay for the euro pack, its not a big file
