Okay, this is truly pathetic. In my opinion the type of storyline low that is killing the WWE as sure as cancer! But what do you guys think?

Tbh, he has been working there long enough - He deserves it IMO. He's worked hard for the company for years.

Oh, i'm all for Edge having the belt. It's the whole "live sex" thing than is bothering me. Less talk more wrestling. Less sexual inuendo, more wrestling.

Ah right yeah. I agree completely..

Well in fairness if you're gonna complain about that then you may as well complain about the women in WWE in general. They are there solely for titilation purposes coming out in barely-there clothes and bra and panty matches?I mean come on!
I was big into WWF when I was younger but when I moved to the country I was without Sky.When I got it a few years ago and watched WWE the odd time I couldn't believe they had something so blatantly gratuitous as bra and panty matches.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,497 ✭✭✭✭Dragan

Yeah, but there is quite the difference between that type of match, the the show's champion promising some hardcore sex on live tv in order to celebrate his win. They really need to take a step back from this type of thing. I'm surprised the have not been buried by parents groups already.

Although the live sex thing was a new one, WWE have been in this ball park for a while now, pretty much since the attitude are.
Supposed live sex in a wrestling ring is an insult to the industry (Or at least the former industry made famous by the Samartino, Backlund and Hogan), but it's nothing new really , in the current "Sports entertainment" world of Hot Lesbian action, necrophilia and, most recently, even live-on air suicides.
This is the way McMahon has chosen to go, because he feels it's the way to make the most money (Buy rates and viewing figures would suggest otherwise).
I personally think it's no coincidence that the smut factor has gradually gotten a lot worse in WWE since the rise to power of HHH.
And before anyone accuses me of a another "Game" bashing that is so common, I admire and enjoy the guy's performances, but he definitely played a part in the Kane/Katy Vick angle and I would imagine he and his lovely wife has suggested or given his approval to a lot of the outrageous or sick (depending on who you talk to) storylines in recent times. I can vision them sitting around with Vince laughing their asses of at this sort of thing.
And the TV networks in the states are hypocrites as well, as they black out or censor certain things, yet still expect people to watch the censored version and make money doing so.
This sort of thing is just going to get worst, and the real wrestling element will continue to suffer, so people will just have to get used to it, or switch off, or (as seems to be the preferred option on this board) carry on watching and give out about it afterwards.

Like you said with "Supposed" it would only ever be rumbling under the covers but even that is an insult to what it should mean - they are amazing athletes with small, and some who have great (The Rock for example),acting ability.
So I see that a bra and panty match makes a mockery of all the training and skill those people put in to get where they are today. It really is a disgrace.Prancing around in underwear, rolling around during the mud matches and in general the clothes and suggestively bending over as they get through the ropes on their way into the ring really has no place in WWE.It's something more suited to late night Bravo or Men and Motors

Women shouldn't be in wrestling tbh.. They steal airtime for people who deserve it. Girls like that should go for Miss Universe competitions.. That's all they are good for.. Unless they are Lillian Garcia.. <3

Honestly they all look like they've been taken from early careers in porn.
Apart from Stacy Kiebler they all have ridiculous implants.Even Stephanie who has quite a large chest went and got implants. Why like?
And wasn't Stacy Kiebler a cheer leader or something beforehand? And Tori Wilson a fitness modeL?
They serve no purpose there except for teens to gawk at and the other to leer at.

Raw is porn got a rating of 4.3, You know what this means? There gonna sink lower and lower.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,497 ✭✭✭✭Dragan

Great. Whats next, Steph dropping to sprog in the middle of the ring?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,143 ✭✭✭D-FENS

If there was more talented women wrestlers like Trish and Victoria, then there should be a place for them. Other than that, one or two nice looking valets should be the limit, and at that, they should just be accompanying actual wrestlers and not taking up their air time as dlofnep said.
I remember reading before that the reason Vince got rid of the managers that were so entertaining was because he didn’t want to have too many people on the pay roll that were just on air talent and not active wrestlers, so they were all sacrificed so we can have GM's and women valets today.A poor trade in my view, some of the young guys would benefit a lot more from a good manager on the mic than a bird flossing her teeth with a thong

maybe because she wants big tits?

anyway, what really annoys me is how talented people like Molly Holly are left go and morons like Torrie Wilson are on the tv every week

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

Personally, I don't want to see women wrestle.. Period. While some like Molly Holly and the likes may of had talent as far as women goes, they just don't entertain me at all.

Those kind of women for porn, men for wrestling.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,497 ✭✭✭✭Dragan

Talent always gets overlooked by the WWE. It's one of there trademarks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 385 ✭✭the sunbabe wan

the only good female wrestlers in the wwe at the moment are trish and lita. molly holly was probably the last good wrestler not great but good enough. of course trish has the title over a year now, with the so called talent that's in the wwe at the moment i cant see trish giving up that title any time soon, unless lita starts wrestling again, but she's too caught up with edge to really to care.

Like I said she was already large,C cup at least,so I don't see she needed it.Other than to fit in with the rest of the plastic women.

Because it actually got it's own slot on the show.
They made a big laugh of her.Chris Jericho came out and made a laugh of her showing before and after shots.Like what has that got to do with anything?
Just shows the 'importance' they put on the girls even though they deserve none

Just had to step in here, what with this bashing of women's wrestling. Some of the best matches I've ever seen have involved women. Granted, they were all Japanese women, but point still stands. Women can pull off amazing wrestling matches if they're good enough

I didn't mind the live sex thing too much. I just saw it as a thing Edge had planned to do, so the face would come and wreck it on him. Just happened to be sex, so the rating goes way up

    Who slagged off women's wrestling?
    Have we mentioned Japanese wrestling?
The topic is the WWE female 'wrestlers'.They're there to prance around in as little clothing as possible. This has nothing to do with wrestling. And is why people are saying it's ridiculous.

i personally don't mind a bit of eye candy inbetween watching men kick the crap out of each other. it's only entertainment. i'm just trying to figure out how anyone in america can actually watch RAW live. all those ad breaks are annoying as hell.

women have always been a part of wrestling. where do you think mae jung and moolah started out? granted they're not exactly appealing to the eye (unless you're into that sort of thing), but thay've been around for years.

vince isn't going to get rid of people who make money for him. torrie wilson and *name escapes me* did playboy and that brought their readers to watch RAW. kiebler is doing some strictly dancing type show now and that will bring more people to watch wwf shows. these girls are talented in their own right and i enjoy watching them. i will concede however, that i would enjoy them more if they were better wrestlers.

    massively agree with that.

did anyone else notice that joey styles was silent throughout the whole thing, i wonder how long he'll be able to stomach RAW, sometimes the WWE creative just go too far, i feel the live sex was one instance, it's world WRESTLING entertainment, and sometimes you're lucky to get 2 matches on raw because of all the crap, but when there's as much airtime for a diva appearing in playboy or live sex celebrations as for title matches you have to know you're in the wrong.
meanwhile mickie james and victoria who can wrestle are doinf bra nd panty matches and lesbian idol worship storys.
christ where are jackie and molly gone, give them paper bags to put over their heads and let them go at it.

    sorry folks for barging inhttp://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
    :D
Just stumbled on this thread...very interesting...i have not watched wwe since the good ole' days when it was the proper WWF,only watched a few shows of wwe and switched off gradually...so i clicked on the link to WWE website and read the review of raw and jaysus..what has wrestling become..live sex in the ring!!! i remember when watching dink the clown was a novelty..but live sex! going from the undertaker(whom i was scared of at the time, and i was 17 yeas old) beat hulk hogan 4 the title over 10 years ago way way low down to edge and lita in a bad...in a wrestling ring..but if it's what the american public want.
from thinking 'is wrestling real or not?' all that time ago to thinking this is obviously fake(and ****e)..on women wrestlers..ne1 remember alundra blayze...she was pretty good and hot...but that was all you got a while ago, up until recently..the rivalry between WCW and WWF..now that was entertainment!!

How times have changed...but going on the website...i don't think i'll b switchin back on the wwe again.

here's the thing. wrestling started off as part of a travelling carnival act. the carnival promoters would use/still use all types of gimicks to get the crowds in. this is just an extension of the carnival aspect of wrestling. there was never going to be a live sex show. ****, certain american shows even have the words "god damn" bleeped out. all it was was a way to bring in the crowds and nothing more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,045 ✭✭✭Vince135792003

    julep wrote:

And it worked. The rating was up 16%. It was the highest rated segmment in a long time. The only thing that came close was the culmination of the Hunter Big Dave contract signing.

But will it always work? and more to the point, they might be briniging more casual viewers in but is it at the expense of their core audience?

For better or worse raw is porn segment got a huge rating. Sex sells.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,061 ✭✭✭✭Terry

don't get me wrong. i would rather have watched edge defend the title, but it's gimmicks like this that pull in the viewers and keep RAW on the air.
remember that (sadly) reality tv is taking over the airwaves. the average tv viewer will watch any sort of crap that's thrown in front of them. the wwf need to keep up with this sh1t and we, the loyal fans, end up paying the price. don't blame the wwf for this. blame the numbskull tv executives who approve these reality shows and the mindless viewers who watch it.

No I do blame the WWE. Making "shocking" tv is the easy way out. Creating stories that people are interested in and that pull people in will keep WWE on the air, not shock value stunts. They have a shelf life. Look at the Triple H Batista angle. They took their time with it. It slowly built. And when they pulled the trigger they made alot of money. To be fair to them apparently since the plans for wrestelmainia have been thrown out they had to start Raw from scrath so they were under pressure on Monday.

But getting a 4.3 means nothing really. The add revenue they get is n't based on tv numbers, its a fixed sum. Then again Vince might argue that, the sex segment got huge ratings, it'll pull more people into the Cena/Edge feud and ppv buys for the rumble will go up. He might be right. He might not.

So if the rumble gets big numbers maybe you can justify it. It does nothing for me though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,061 ✭✭✭✭Terry

of course the rumble will get a good buy rate. thing is, i have a feeling though that the prize at wrestlemania, for the winner of the rumble, will be some kind of triple thread/four corners match for batista's vacated title. while the edge/cena angle might not bring in the numbers, the world title debacle certainly will. (i'm just watching smackdown now. there may be a title match at the end of it. i don't know).
hmm. now there's something. onto the rumble prediction thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,045 ✭✭✭Vince135792003

Not necessarily their buy rate last year was the lowest since the dark days of '97. New Years revolution with it being on in the same month taskes a bite out of the number.
