Buying in for less than the minimum on Tribeca

There is one player on my table consistently doing this.

Here's how I think it happens: he goes all in, and clicks on the "$" sign to buy more chips. He orders less chips than the minimum, and if he loses the hand (generally he does this if he can expect to lose) suddenly he has 20BB in front of him instead of 50.

I've got quite attached to the Tribeca software, so I'm not someone who regularly complains about it, but this seems to be a glitch. On some tables the minimum buyin is 10BB so this could really abused there. Maybe I will try it some time.

Funny that Tribeca players cleverly use the system to buy in for even less than the minimum whereas Pokerstars players use it to continuely add on an extra max buy in when they go all in.
Not entirely sure how it constitutes abusing the system however, all the shortstacks on Tribeca are annoying but the all-in merchants are losing players.

Another thing about Tribeca which I find annoying is the rake is taken from your bet before it reaches the pot. Today I tried to put a player with $10 left all in by betting $10 but only $9.99 appeared as the bet. Ok, so u could argue he'd be pot commited if he called, but its just not the same as being all in.

Something is wrong here. I don't think they even rake by the penny, and the bet is not raked unless it is called. Maybe a glitch, something that happened once.

Yeah it seems to be the exact opposite of the Pokerstars system. If there is any unpublicised "feature" like this, people who discover it start to think how clever they are and that it must be to their advantage. (Of course, they might be right).

If you could manage to consistently buy in for 1 or 2 BB you could use this to get a huge amount of action on your money. The shortstacks seem to be losing players, but it would be nice to have them lose three times as much by buying in full.

    PPP Pitboss/Karl? Any thoughts?

It has happened at least 3 times to me. I'll try to take a screenshot if it happens again. I didn't notice what it said the bet was in the dealer window.

Maybe some thrifty programmer is skimming 1c from random bets to his account :p

What difference does it make? he's not doing himself any favours by buying in for sucha low stake.

I love playing against short stacks, its so easy to beat them. And usually if they double up against you its not long before you get a hand to win it back and probably their buy-in too.

Playing with a short stack is a sure sign of someone who is just there for the gamble. So maybe it could be used to your advantage on the higher stakes tables. ;)

    I have a better one.

I had the 10 of Clubs playing card right down where your chip count is located for a full half an hour or so, playing a MTT there a couple of weeks ago. I forgot about it until now.

The card never moved until I was moved table.

I take it this was on tribeca? Minimizing and then restoring the window usually gets rid of that for me.

I think this is weak. I think you should chase them out with a big raise, representing the 10.

If its covering up your chip count, another solution is just to get rid of all your chips. I say go all in blind on the next hand.

Not an uncommon problem it would seem. Have not come accross it myself yet but many players have, see http://www.overthegun.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=236&PN=1&TPN=2
Problems I have encountered on the new patch are no player avatars when sitting down initially at a STT and "invisible" flops (sometimes for as long as 5-10 secs)

PPP care to comment on said glitch?

lol ... maybe it's some secret grading system of players?

Some kind of fishieness index on a range of 1-52 ranging from Fillet'O'Fish to month old haddock perhaps!

2 weeks ago I had the revealed hand of a knocked out player remain on screen for me into the next hand, it was 92 and he would have flopped a boat on that hand :) No-one else could see it. I had the raise amount stick in a 300+ MTT recently when down to about 12 players and instead of raising the the min which I wanted to I bet half my stack and lost it :(
What's more important though is the length of time you have to make your decisions, this is crucial to a poker site. What do people think is an appropriate length of time to give players to make their decisions at a a cash game? Obviously it's a balance between having a relatively speedy game and not screwing players over (I was screwed over on PPP last night when I tried to make a call at a cash table on the river to a pot sized steal but timed out too quickly in my opinion especially as Tribeca's tables are aggresively prominent as to which table you are supposed to act on - with the short period of time you have you find yourself almost battling with another table to get it out of the bloody way so you can see, think, and act in time). I like Pokerstars's timing structure, why doesn't Tribeca have a time bank you can use? Probably cause players on the network disconnect non-stop I imagine, but it is very important in my opinion. What do you think? Would you be happy to have 1k in a pot only for the software to stall on you for a few seconds or get distracted momentarily by another table and lose it?

I've seen this before, and i think its a glitch, i don't think its being raked. Otherwise, why wouldn't it happen on all raises?

Yeah, the avatars glitch happens for every single stt I play.
