    Hi Guys
I have two dishes on the back of my house, one mesh for Sky and a solid metal dish for 13/19degs. The solid dish is old and has some signs of rusting at the edges. What paint should I use to protect the dish, pref Spray can type paint. I know hamerite(sp?) would be best for the back of the dish, but shouldn't be used on the front.
I'd like to paint the sky one too, but it's not so urgent

    Thanks
    C

The paint must be suitable for use on metals, but must not be metallic or have a glossy finish.
Maybe a motor factors would have a matt paint?

Non-metallic, matt paint is best as byte says.

If you've got an artistic flair, you could try the following:

There is also a clear, protective oil for metal surfaces, name escapes me now, but I'll try and find it. I've used it on a Lidl dish and on one of the Fortec petals and it seemed fine.

    hi Zaphod,
the house isn't painted yet, we're letting the plaster cure or some such. It'll be plain grey paint I'll be using. Luckily for us, the horses in the field over looking the dishes arent up on the planning reg's and don't seem to mind the dishes :) Matt paint from motor factors seems like a good bet. I only plan on having this dish til March, will prob try for a motor set up then.

Agreed! Owatrol oil is wonderful stuff. For a good discription of it check out the Irish distributors site

Zaphod, can you apply the oil to the main face of the dish, or just to the wall bracket?

Yes, I applied it to the face of the dish with no apparent loss in performance.
