Hmmm... no fanned fretting... dunno... I'm kind of "meh" over this one :o

8 strings? Might be nice on a decent acoustic but I wouldn't be bothered on an electric to be honest

Honestly, that is sweet. Apart from the tuner config though, I don't like the Ibanez headstock with 4 a side tuners. Any clue what it's tuned to though? I know his Conklin 8 String was tuned BEADGBEA, but is this the same?

I suppose I just really want to know when Ibanez are coming out with a production model 8 string.

they'd have to make the tremolo in big quantitys for that!

i can't see it too soon!

they'll need the backing of someone bigger than Rusty!

You mean like Dino Cazerez, and the guys from Meshuggah? They're using Ibanez 8 Strings, so I'd say there's plenty of backing. There's also quite a lot of people who have showed interest in owning an 8 string, myself included. Supposedly, as rumour goes, they'll be bringing out a limited run of 8s that's going to be announced at NAMM.

Oh man if they announce a fixed bridge 8 im ssooooo there! The thought of stringing an 8 string floyd scares me

I dunno, I don't find a 7 string floyd any more bothersome than a 6, so I can't see it being any different with an 8. Though if you're not a fan of floyds in the first place, it could be problematic.

I like floyds but I do find myself spending more time balancing the 7 than the 6, I should really adopt those methods I see online with people using wooden blocks etc to keep the bridge stable while re-stringing. If I had an 8 string I'd want it for the tuning possibilities as much as the super low chug and would def prefer a fixed bridge for those reasons.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. You know, I'd probably prefer a fixed bridge 8 myself, that's basically the same reasons I've got my custom built with a fixed bridge.

Yeah how is that guitar now that the new guitar buzz has worn off (or does the buzz ever wear off something like that?)

Well if it does wear off, it hasn't yet. It's just a fantabulous guitar, but I don't know what I can say that I've not said before.

Nice! Just checking the Ibanez Japan website there and I came across this!. Im telling you if the 8 string isnt released this year im sssooo buying that! Along with a John Petrucci 6 and an alpine white Tokai Les Paul (twas never a big Les Paul fan till I saw this white scratchplateless epiphone on christguitars, it may be an epiphone but it looks awesome!)

Hmm, that's you've got rather similar taste to myself, I've been after a White Tokai Les Paul for a while now, but without EMGs thanks. DiMarzio, or Duncans methinks. And I've my eye on a Petrucci for a while, which I think I'll be buying at some stage this year, all going well, but a 7 string one, with piezos. Specifically like this.

I still havnt decided on what colour I want my JP6 but I did just find it on Guitarbargains! Hopefully within 2 months she'll be mine :v: ! Chances are my new found Les Paul GAS will be gone by then so instead of the RG7 and the Tokai I might just get a JP7 to match :)

You might want to take a look here, they seem to be the best with prices for the JPs, and probably be where I'll be getting mine. Unfortunately, that GAS isn't going to go away unless you buy the guitar in question. Sad, but true.

Ah I'd never play the les paul, it just looks awesome in white and would look savage in the rack! Maybe take it out for the occasional pose. The JP just seems so super versatile it'd probably retire most of my collection. I was watching the Live Scenes from New York DVD there recently and I always presumed from the cd he had an acoustic out at the start, I never heard piezo's on an electric sound so nice (admitedly that also is due in part to his rig but hopefully it will sound at least half as nice through mine :v: )

    And what's wrong with that?

Yeah, damn well versatile altogether. I imagine 2 JPs would be quite easily all you might need.

Say, do you think we're going a little off topic?

That guitar is totally badass. Chrome to the max :v:

I'm drawn to the curves of the RG anyway, but that's just so nice.
If only I was Rusty Cooley, and right handed...

Ok, it's official, there will be an Ibanez 8 String out in 2006. I think I might very well be saving my pennies in anticipation.

Yeah, this one is actually tuned F#BEADGBE, unlike his Conklin which had a high A. Supposedly he doesn't need the fanned frets on this, as that was just to keep the A from snapping. Interesting.

Although, he sold his Conklin 9 String after a few weeks! That mother****er was tuned F#BEADGBEA! Insane tbh.
