Does anyone know where I can get ink cartridges for this printer. They are €60.78 on the Dell website for a high capacity black and colour cartridges.
The ones that I have in my printer at the minute are only demo ones I think, there model number is M4646 (colour) and M4640 (black), the printer only cost me €24 to start with so I am presuming the cartridges are demo.

I am not being funny but as you can see I have already tried that.
Does anyone else know were they can be got or is it the case that nobody else makes them?

Can they not be refilled? I'm actually hoping to get some dell cartridges for an A940 refilled this weekend. Will let you know how I get on

I believe this printer is actually made by Lexmark and some research should throw up compatible cartridges from them or other sources.

All though it's really difficult and tricky to refill a Dell cartridge it's not impossible.
I bought some black refill ink from Tesco (about €7 for up to 6 or more refills) it took me a while, but after a few attempts it becomes very straight forward.
Much better then paying ripoff dell.ie

shows the lexmark range of cartridges for their printer, a quick search on ebay shows some good value.

I advise you verify the Dell compatibility with someone else prior to ordering.

they are not compatible (maybe the first few were ) , Dells carts are lexmark ones (as are their printers) but with a subtly different capsule shape so a dell lexmark will not fit a lexmark lexmark and vicey versey

I think that I will end up going with Dell, I don't reall want the hassle of refilling, sounds like something that you need a bit of practice with, I might also consider Cartridge World but as I have no car and there are none near me this probably will not be to good either.
So the bottom line seems to be that I have to order of Dell, to be honest I shouldn't complain to much as the printer only cost me €24 inc p+p and has been very good and reliable to me so far, this is also the first time I have had to change cartridges but I suppose I would not do all that much printing.
    Thanks anyways lads.

Use the tesco refill kit. it's simple out.

I've an a940, and I had no problems refilling it. The kit doesn't have Dell listed on the packaging but the instruction manual inside shows how to refill Dell cartridges.

If you intend using the printer for a couple of years or printing a medium to high amount it would be worth considering selling the printer again and buying a different printer that uses cheaper cartridges

Would work out a lot cheaper in the long run

Id second this, Dell\Lexmark dont sell printers, they sell ink. I have seen lexmark printers sell in bulk at $7 (yes USD). Why? Because they dont make money on printers, they make it on ink.
