As some of you know last night I went through the gamertag list on this thread and sent everyone a friend request thanks to those of you who have accepted so far.

The main reason I'm writing this thread however is because adding new friends when you know their gamertag should be easier the letter input method is so slow and cumbersome.

Now I know that you can just plug in a USB keyboard but my 360 s under my TV in the living room and it just well I think the interface should be better in this regard.

For example I think the text input should have an option like a mobile phone where each direction of the thumb stick acts like a selector for a group of letters and then you select the letter you want by clicking A just like text messages on a phone, and similar to the PSP ext input although I think it would probably better.

it's an annoyance, but it's one of those things you just have to grin and bear. Now that you've done it you won't have to do it again anyway

Very true overall though I am delighted with the Xbox 360, what type of setup are you using it on.

have it hooked up to my 19" flat panel monitor nice set of speakers too

By far the best input method for consoles is having the letters around in a circle and using your analog stick to point at them, it's been used in a couple of games (BG&E I think?) and it's always soooooooo much quicker and easier then a keyboard because the precision of an analog stick lets you point exactly at the letter you want quickly and easily without scrolling through other letters or across a keyboard.

Yeah they used the circle in Far Cry too and it just makes it a lot faster.
